See I have a couple of suzuki's here and thinking about swapping them all around a bit .

I'm halfway through putting wt's in my nt with Damos help. Have been for a while come to think of it

The difference in width is only total 2 inches I believe  Maybe 2" per side though not sure. But it's worth it for me cause the 1.3 gear is a bit stronger than the 1l.

You'll have to move the spring mounts inboard on the diff. The 1.3 nt centers will fit but not the 1l centers.

Thinking of going spring over etc so want a pit more width and could then also move the spring perch in a bit . Must get under there and have a good look see then . Must be only 2 inch total as it doesn't look that much but I guess the flares cover it up a bit .

So then how do they compare to narrow toy axles ( 85ish ) , will get of my lazy but and measerue them tomorrow maybe but can't sleep so scheming you see .

Cheers

Problem is I have two sets 413 axles 1 set wt axles and one set toy axles and just trying to figure out which one will get which . ie run around car is a wt but does not need to be . Offroader has nt with difflocks , need more width . If I go toys I loose the lockers :-(

Do you daily drive it :?:

If not go toys and weld the rear :D then save for a front locker. The strength would be good.

What do you drive there anyway, mostly mud :?: and sheep..... sorry

this is gonna sounds strange but how bout putting the NT centres in the Toy pumpkins!! That way you increase the width AND keep the lockers.
The WT is about 9cm wider than the NT and as previously mentioned 1.3 NT centres will fit in the WT but not the 1L ones.

might want to reread what you just said. Zook diff centres don't fit into toy diffs.

cheers

You'd think that it could be done, considering the size of toy diff housings :?: , a few mods may be, but then u run into the wall of axles to fit the housing width ( custom ones even- not cheap!) or cutting down the housing and rolling in new axel inner tubes?? To me, Vitara rear hosing is wider than a hilux housing and it fits w/t axels with minor mods and u can put in any zook diff centers you like with a lil re-ratio'ing. Use a widey housing upfront and ur keepin it all zook that way too!

It COULD be done but why bother. Weak link would then become the centres. Not to mention it would be cheaper just to sell his lockers and buy lockers for the toy diffs rather than stuffing around getting custom axles made etc etc

LOTS of rooting around. Would it be worth it? No.

Yes wider than hilux housing and WAY wider than a zook housing. Even a widetrack up front will still not match the vit rear. Hilux diff up front, yeah that might be coming closer but you cant match the ratios then. AND if you were using WT up front you could only match 4.56 or 5.13 ratios with the vit rear (unless you go aftermarket, cha-ching!)

If you wheel a lot and have been having breakages go the hilux diffs and do as -Mick- suggested (weld the rear and lock the front). Selling your zook lockers will get you some $ for a front locker.

If you dont wheel as much or haven't been breaking so much then go the WTs. SPOA if that's your thing (SEARCH for all the pro/con opinions on this) but dont go too high on the SPOA perch heigh as it will give your axe housing more leverage on the springs making for more spring wrap.

Another factor to consider is tyre height. If you are cool with running 31s forever then WTs will be fine. If you want to step up at some stage I would be putting in the hilux diffs sooner rather than later.

good points there Damo  ! I was pretty much throwing a few ideas in the air and seeing which way they hit the ground... I guess having the vit/widetrack setup on mine is why I suggested it, we cut down the vit rear slightly on one side and put a section of housing tube onto the short side to make the driveline line up for the duel tfc set up (long story short, moved the pumkin across :D
The hilux set up is cool, I guess I'm just of the frame of mind to try and keep zooks zooks. The idea of running 33's with 5.13 centers permenantly is fine as it's been tried and tested for a number of years down here in VIC and has never blown a diff on the vehicles we've set up in the time that I've known them- not saying it's a given at all that they won't blow, just that they appear to be strong enough to take the load put on them by aggressive 33's.
Toydiffs are sometimes easier to come by and are a more than worthy swap, all depends on what weight an engineer will pass up there as well as what parts you've got at hand. Damo's right, if you've got the toyota parts there- use them and sell ur zook bits to counter-balance the change over :P

The other point to remember is that the toyota diffs, whether hilux or others are a bit heavier that zook stuff. Do you have the horspower to push the extra weight blah blah blah that type of stuff to consider.
If we can put one man on the moon, why can't we put them all there!!
