if i rember correctly the other dude had dirt and all shit in his case
and not lookin after it (i think that is what liam said when the checked the case out) and the only other one i know of is GODZUKI off pirate but with rockwells and 53's anything can break
i thought they would hold up a little longer with a 1.3 and 33's

all it takes is a slight misalignment when it was being installed or there could be some misalignment with t/case drive shafts etc. Doesn't take much if something is out of whack.
What were you doing at the time of destruction?

Its amazing how when something breaks, the leading brand gets the blame..... Please be advised that the gear breakage being discussed are NOT Rockhopper gears........ they we believe are imports of a lesser quality...... I have one of these gears( being discussed) in front of me and it is not marked or cut the same as a Rockhopper ( Brand) gear........ I will post on the www.bbmotorsport.com.au site pictures of the broken gear and the GENUINE rockhopper gear for all to see......... better still pop into our Sydney store and have a look for yourselves.
I am happy to examine anyones gear purchase and confirm if its a REAL ROCKHOPPER gear.
I have distributors throughout Australia that sell our Rockhopper gears and will be happy to confirm that they are our agents..... talk to Me , Rick or Brett in Qld........ The owners of BBM will execute whatever legal avenues available to them against anyone that purpotes that non genuine Rockhoppers are the same or misrepresents their origin

Redzook those pictures are from Drew’s car. His specs are 1.6 supercharged toy motor, with 33 / 12’5 BFG mud terrain. Add heavy foot in their somewhere as well.
Liam, where do these inferior products come from?
I noticed when I received mine there was one marked in a different box. But at the same time I think it may have had rock hopper written on it.

How do I make sure I am buying the right/real Rockhopper. I'm in the outer east of Melbourne. I am on a disability pension, its going to take a long time to save, and I don't want to get burnt. Also are the new S1's as good as the S3's? The only reason for wanting S3, is to avoid the earlier S1 issues. S1 would be better gearing for me, as probably won't go over 31" -32" boots. christover

Well thats proof enough for me! They must be pretty strong, but like every thing that's been taken into extreme places, it's gonna break from time to time.

I think the problem is that we use the term Rockhopper, like we do Hoover. The brand name has become just a name for all vaacuum cleaners, and in this case all transfer reduction gears get called rockhoppers...maybe..
In my case, I say "I'm saving for a rockhopper", when I mean whatever t-case gearing is suitable, reliable, accessible and affordable, at the time.
Until now I wasn't aware of the cheap rip-offs, but the world is like that, and I could of guessed there would be some.
Don't think there is a solution, its just a comment.
Incorrect info is often spread by other makers, too, in an effort to undermine the originals. It's hard to find the truth, sometimes...

All that said.
Tims truck would probably had the most amount of wheeling time out of anyone on here or by anyone than runs a 6.1 geaset. It is driven nearly every weekend .And it is driven for what it was built for.Nothing is unbreakable. Whilst the gear has failed the rest of the transfer was in excellent condition.
