oils

LT95 garbox and transfer case , use 20w50 engine oil . Some people say to use gear oil in the main gear box but evidently the internal oil pump finds gear oil to thick to pump. The transfer case had some problems with lubrication and I was told that instead of engineering solutions LR changed the oil grade from 20w50 to gear oil 80w90.Although I still run 20w50 in both as the internal oil seal does not have along life and oil drains from the main box to the transfer case, that is set lower, there is a fix for this
(tap a return line at the appropriate filler levels of both boxes)

LT95 and LT77 use fibre gears in the oil pump. These can fail if the oil viscosity is too high.
