North Brisbane Suzuki Club Night Navagation run.
Meeting: The Burma servo on the cunningham Hwy at willowbank
Time: 6.00pm
Cost: $10
Drinks will be available at some checkpionts, and drinks and snags will be awaiting competitors at the last stage.
Rating is Easy/medium, with hard option (*hint* - Bring your brains )

How do you guys stand with non-members doing your night runs? I know we (Logan Club) had dramas, because they weren't covered by our public liabilty insurance policy. That is why our runs are now members only. The only way around the problem, according to Ken Brady from TCIS, is to not charge people money to go on the run. That way, they are attending of their own free will and risk.
Sorry, not trying to put a downer on your run or anything. I just don't want to see you guys put into a bad situation. If you guys have something worked out, that's great. I'm sure there would plenty of our guys keen to go on a NBS4x4 run.

That's cool. I just remember the conversation had with TCIS, and they said that if a litigation case came against our club as a result of a non-member doing a run, that our insurance would not cover us, and the committee members would be personally persued throught the courts. That would include you, as the "trip leader". So, I think it would be a good idea to get confirmation. I know it's a pain in the arse, but I guess that's just how it goes now with all this public liability BS.
All I'm saying is, make sure your arse is covered mate.

Matter was taken up with TCIS. Non-members are covered by liability insurance for three runs before membership is required and although you are not permitted to charge to go on runs, you are permitted to have a compulsary raffle which must be legit. It doesn't matter if the prise is a box of matches as long as there is a price. You can also charge for things such as maps. We've gone through all the right channels to ensure the committee and trip leaders are covered.
I'll forward you the name of the guy we spoke with so that you can confirm for the Logan club if you like.

That's 6 runs, half the runs we put on for the year. Though, that policy may work very well for your club. They said we can have raffles, and food and drinks at the start and/or finish, but we can not make it compulsory for people to have to buy them. Now, in saying that, if a non-member was to offer your club a donation, that is fine so long as they recieve a reciept for it. Once again, this has to be of their own free will, and not compulsory.
Something else that we were told is, we can do an invitational run. For example, we are thinking of doing our November Xtreme night run as an invitational. We can invite whoever we want, or think will be good on the run, but we don't charge a red cent for the night. Everybody is covered then.

I haven't done the run yet but been told it's an easy / medium run. A stocker will have great fun trying to get through everything, but there are some 'FUN' options. I don't know if lockers will be needed for these options, but a winch isn't necessary.

Haven't been on a night nav for, literally, years! Are they still the same old same ole ie chicken scratch map, that cause huge domestics? Is it easy enough to bring the whole family? Are passengers allowed? If the patrol survives Mud Bulls, I wouldn't mind doing this run.

Hey fellas, you might want to consider the fact that the Logan annual extreme run is on the 13th and is open to everyone, see link below. I don't think it will effect us as we look like getting a great roll up but it would have been nice to see you guys there.

Ok everyone, the run is DEFINATELY still on.
Rain has made a few tracks a little sliprer, but the rating is the same. Risk of any real damage has not increased cause of the weather. However if you drive like a knob, then you get what you deserve
As for the date, we had to pick a nigth that fitted in with the nbs events schedule. So appologies to those who wanted to go on this run, but was unavoidable.

would have liked to have come on the Logan Run. Im keen to promote interclub outings. I think that clubs that are officially members of the association should be working together as a team as mates. no one else will fight to keep our recreation alive and there are a lot who would love to kill it. For that reason I dont think clubs should compete against or bag other clubs unless it in light heart or behind the wheel at events like logan challenge or night navs etc. members of a club in the association can attend the events of another club in the assoc without comprimising insurance provided the members club makes it an official event to attend the other clubs run. I know I miss the big turn outs on night runs from all the clubs around brissie and clubs must be feeling the hurt of missing 10 bucks out of each rig plus drinks and food. Oh Marshy this isn't a dig back about this particular event clash. I believe some of your members are coming who aren't up for an extreme run and I hope some of our members will go on yours. Unfortunately it looks as though I am running a stage for our club on sat night so I wont be able to make your run. Have a great night.

I am not having a go or anything, but I know for a fact that the Logan club would get alot more people on their night runs if you didn't have to join the club. If what coiled was saying is true; that members of associated clubs are covered by the same insurance; then the turn outs would be heaps better if clubs organised to have joint meetings every now and then......

You may be on to something fellas. If you are covered as a club trip attending another clubs trip then that is a way of making it work. The problem is it can start s#it fights as I have seen this kind of thing attempted in the past. "Our club is doing all the work and your club do SFA", that kind of thing.
You ran an easy medium run and we ran an extreme and lets face it niether side would want to be at the other so why make an issue out of it? We ran a monthly night run for twenty years with the November run always being the big one until we were told by our insurance that we had to cater for members only or we were being classed as "event organisers".
If what you are saying is true then with the exception of a couple of runs a year it should work.

Not quite right Andy. I really wanted to come on your run and Pm'd asking if I could bring my comp rig along and you said no to unregistered vehicles So I took my 80 series on NBS run and had an absolute ball with my family and other mates that came along on the NBS run. A Big to NBS for a very well put together, very professional run.

Pete, there were no buggies on the Logan Night Run. I believe Tony (RUFF) had, or was planning on, having his out there as a recovery vehicle on a CP, but that's very different to competing. Our insurance policy will only cover us if the competing vehicles hold a current registration as a passenger vehicle. I'm not sure where you heard that there was buggies on the run, but don't believe it, as it's simply not true.
