alright i found out today that later model patrols came stock with 3.76:1 in the tcase. this caught my interest because patrols are passenger side drop, opposite of my dd pathfinder. reason why it is of interest to me is because my original plan was to swap fj-80s for my 8"s in my yota. the next idea was to put them under my path, by going vg33->tranny adaptor->700r4a->tcase adaptor->yota tcase->dual case adaptor->yota dual case->axles, to switch over to passengers side drop. but 3 adaptors, one custom, is 1k+ in adaptors, and a lot of adaptor as it is.
knowing about this case changes things. so my question to you guys, since there hardly any patrols around here, is i'd like to find out more info on the engine/tranny combos available and see if there is a tranny/tcase from a patrol that bolts up to my vg33, if not i'll have to fab an adaptor. simple, simple swap if that's possible, relatively speaking thanks a lot

And I don't know about bolting up to your engine, but a patrol tranny/t-case combo is a Fawking huge peice of machinery and probably won't even come close to fitting in your truck...
Gears are around $1300 AU. A dude from Sasquatch Engineering will be on here in a few hours to answer your question on the dual case adaptor. But you have to ring him up and talk to him for 41 minutes exactly.

i was actually planning on trying to make a dual case adaptor for pathfinders until i stumbled onto the patrol stuff.
so the patrol stuff is smaller than yota pickup stuff? am i understanding that right? because my yota tcase is smaller than my pathfinder tcase.

you have some crazy ideas. hope they work out. too much of a headfawk for me to think about at the moment.
oh ok that cleared it up, thanks...
but when there's no options for your nissan you have to think up stupid chit, and after buying my yota i wanna throw yota under my nissan. hey i think it's better than throwing jeep or ford stuff under there

nah, half AGAIN as big, if not more. So nearly twice as big! FAWKING HUGE KINDA..

i've never heard someone say it like that, i come on here to find out about patrol stuff and i learn something else last question for the night, since it's 1am over here, how strong are the patrol cases? compared to something like a yota pickup or terrano case? now i've got other ideas floating through my head

Pretty strong. These are really overweight trucks with big torquey deisels often used for towing horses, boats, caravans, wildebeest etc, and transmission problems are pretty rare..
terrano and pathfinder (code #D21) same car same running gear different engine (TD vs VG respectively)
wow they actually sold 1 here? got the terrano straight from japan private import
terrano 2 = puke ugly
i have heard quite a few guys just run dana 44s in the front from an early wagoneer (i think that's the one that had passenger side pinion). yeah it's not japanese but it's the best option. also i have not heard of gearbox & transfer case failure from the pathy nor the patrol.
5th gear strips the splines off the mainshaft due to load with the huge torque of the 3.0 and 4.2 TD
new mainshaft and 5th gear cluster is 12mm wider, GU3 got the new part (spet 2002) and 1st newstyle mainshaft as a spare part was in june 2002 (went in my car)
my tranny is shot, and a couple of my buddies are going too. it seems to be hit or miss with them over here though.
yeah you guys got the better engine...
the d44 is a option, but, i'm left without any respectable gearing options keeping it drivers side. there's nothing for wd21s in that respect. by going passenger side and i can put in yota gearing, and i just gearing my yota with duals and 4.7 in the back for ~$700. the path finally got it's first option the other day when a company released 3.92:1s for $1300 US ($2115 AUS).

I don't understand this. Why 5th gear? there is less torque going through to the t-case in 5th than any other gear.. What does it do, strip the splines of the shaft, or strip the gears?? The shaft is 50mm dia
