How to seperate cv's from axel

After bustin another CV on the weekend, I was thinkin of getting some brand new 1's instead of second hand junk.
Pulled both CV's out and can't figure out how to seperate the CV from the axel. Do you try to get the circlip off or just whack with big hammer?

Any help?

Piece of pipe, drop axle through pipe couple of times so that CV stops when it hits the pipe and axle falls through.

On the Gen 2 luxs (And maybe runners) the rear chassis crossmember above the rear tyres is the perfect diameter pipe.

Hold the short end (outside) in one hand with the rest hanging down, then give the end a tap with a hammer, it should just fall out.

Do you have to roll your Lux over on its side to do this :?

Which side is better ? Drivers or passengers ?

Can I borrow your Lux if I need to change my Cruiser CVs ?

I alternate each time so that the lux stays equally stuffed on each side.
:D

The same force of the pipe on the CV happens when working in either the horizontal or verticle plane, you just dont have gravity assist when sliding it sideways though the cross member. :finger: ;)

Dude, thats a bit graphic! :?

Just belt it with a hammer downwards. Saves looking for the right pipe. Unless of course you have lost your hammer too.

I tried hammers, mallets etc. Only thing that worked everytime for me was the pipe.

(This is so heading into the gutter)
