Engine driven air con compressor on 1HZ
No doubt this has been done by someone on here. I'm about to do it myself and don't believe it will be too hard. Have had a quick look and the only spot I think it can be mounted is above the factory air con compessor by mounting it lower. Is this true? Any pointers to dramas that may be encountered would be appreciated, pics/drawings even better! Just trying to save time on R&D. Have done a search and couldn't find any posts relating directly to this topic.

It wouldn't matter about loosing the power steering though as The Fish's power steering is non-power assist at the moment so it can't be lost.

If you have a surf round the 80scool list piccies, (www.lcool.org) you will find them...8cfm i believe....10psi to 30psi on a 35 in 45 seconds sort of stuff.

Ok some pics of my set up. Purchased an endless air comp, with the bracket kit..... dont get the bracket kit.... ..... might work for some but it is constructed out of 4mm mild steel, and has to support the weight of the compressor and a/c compressor. So I am in the process of fabbing my own bracket kit.
Since I want to retain air con (would be easier if no air con) the standard ac brachet is move out from the std mounting hole by 40mm and forward about 15 mm, the air comp drives directically of the crank and then the air con drives off the air compressor, refer to pics.
The pics show progress so far..... Have to work out the adjustment for the air comp to the crank...... any one got any ideas

I'd be more than happy to pop down with a case of cold ones and soem folded stuff for that - Hell -I'd even unhook the air con on my rangie just for the pump!!

I wouldn't do it. you'd have to at least partially mount it off the inlet manifold and breaking the manifold would suck.

If anyone ever actually gets it sorted how to fit a compressor and keep the AC, i will gladly pay towards the RnD costs for getting a mount fabbed.
or if anyone wants to get one fabbed i would be interested in going halves for getting a second one made.

Progress nill, will be into it after christmas, got a heap on at the moment.... Actually pulled the cover off the engine the other day to see what it looks like, while having a can, still didn't solve the problem of geeeting the tensioner to work. Might have to go and have another can and a bit more of a think.
So if I fabbed this bracket to retain the standard A/C assembly/compressor and then based the air comp on a either a sanden/endless air, or a toyota sealed unit that would suit every body, cos most people are using either sanden or 'toyoda' as air comps arn't they.

Gday went to Appin last night with a few cruisers, and one of them was a hzj105 with endless air kit.....well what an engineering marvel this is...the compresser is mounted off the sump on the drivers side, and runs off the 2 belts that run the alt/water pump, etc.
Just enough room to fit it in...now, on ebay at the moment, there is a compresser for sale that is essentially an endless air without brackets. search under "endless air"
