All the guys that helped me film for Off Road Productions had an absolute hoot, including 4wdTV.
Although it was bloody hot, we held in there and got alot of excellent footage and perhaps was probably the best HARDCORE footage to date.
There were so many gutsy drives and Sams Mogrover blue me away and I must say good drive Tony.
I guess it was good to see something different, which actually does the job.
It was excellent to see so many BIG RIGS all turn up and I couldn't believe how hard some of the smaller rigs were going.
I had a hoot, everything ran smoothly as always with the Pecker and I will get a video link showing some of the best drives including the whole drive of the Mogrover, either tomorrow or Wednesday.
I'll try and get the dvd out early in the new year.
4wdtv helped out as well with filming and looking after the interviews, and I guess they will show a bit of WP2004 on ch 31 shortly.

If you actually read my post,I congrtaulated tony on a good drive.
And i was not saying anything about bloody buggies,Nor did i say that i could drive it unpacked in my buggy,And i don't where you get the almighty from.
So why don't you go pull your head in...
Anyway you where not even there.
As for the logs at nissan trials,I got furhter than you did,Yeah thats right all you could do was sit in the navi seat and squeal like a little bitch.
When you finally pull your so called perfect competion truck out and actually do some driving and competing then i might actually listen to your dribble,Until then thats is all your good for. DRIBBLING SHIAT...

Tony, i have no control over the names, 4wd links automatically gives each movie/pic a filename when it gets uploaded to the site, and it just uses that 3 letter setup like you said. on my computer they're called 'woodpecker' etc. but yeah, i can't do anything about it

antt, when you load the vid go into "properties" and rename it.
also go into "rename album" and rename it.
dunno if you can do it afterwards though.

up the mighty mog  ... was far more exciting watching that, than the so-called big trucks winching the moment their front wheels hit the bottom of jackhammer pass....(flame suit on)

well done to 83lux on his first event... dont get a big head scott :finger: .. but you did well....was impressed with the whole event and was definitely worth putting up with antt telling me and dan how good his vit was for the whole 12 hour drive each way

Im mate's with mick, the guy that drove around the GU. I was videoing it, the GU sucked water and mick couldn't pull him out, so he said to drive around. the GU has a 350 or something ready to go into it, got nearly all panels except the passenger rear door.
to top it all off, the mavrick had a bent steering arm and couldn't get enough turn in the wombat holes, getting it crossed up with not much left lock.

I was helping Shane "ORP" do the video so i seen just about every truck
run, as well as being a member of on all 4's for a few years and Tonys drive in the MOG was definatly one of the best and most controlled drives
ever seen at a WOODPECKER, Congrats to him and his team, and a big congrats to all the members of ON ALL 4'S for running the best 1 day event in the country without a problem again. :D

Awesome event...and top drive from Tony.

4wd TV teamed up with ORP...three of us and four of them. So with seven contributing cameras we should have some top footage for the DVD and TV show.

There is also a rumour leaking our way that community TV is coming back to NSW early in 2005...if so, 4wd TV will be there!

Congratulations to everybody from ON ALL 4'S. Really great format and really well run event. The way the teams worked to get the rigs through was fantastic to watch. There were a lot of people there really putting in the hard yards to get the rigs all the way through.

And great driving Tony. I was absolutely rapped that you drove the Jackhammer Pass. Bloody fantastic. This was the sort of event and terrain that the Mogrover was origionally built for and it was great to actually see it competing where it should be.

Your right, there is a 350 or something. A nice little 383 chev. It is actually the internals out of one of the engines that went to N.Z to race in the super sedan test match. As you could imagine, it has full roller gear, with all the bells & whistles, as it originally ran on methenol. This time round it will be on gas. It currently has has a 2.8 TD, which did exceptionally well at Nissan Trials. As 4 the bloke who said serve himself right, would you spend the money on a snorkle to fit a 2.8 when the Chev is to go in after Sunday? OR...... do u know of some way to make it fit onto a twin carbie unit? .... Well...Didn't think so .
Well done to all the Maitland District Team members on your efforts, and for taking out the Croud Pleaser award for getting Mick past Scott. It just shows what you can do if you think outside the square, but stay within the bunting.

i agree with fourwheelin

Tony had an awsome drive.....no doubt about it
and their team was the most organised.......and thats what got them thru

as tony himself stated , it was like a hwy for the last climb

the guys were organised enough to kno it'd drive after cv hill an ran across to stack
other teams either didnt have the guys , or just didnt bother or whatever their excuse ( or in the case of the big $$ rigs , they think they r too good anyway to stack )

i doubt very much it woulda driven it unassisted within time tho
surprising the diff a strap can make

either way , the MOG def ruled the day
well done guys

and yes , the lux's did very well also......better than many that'd driven the course before

RUFF wrote:Hot, Tired, just walked in the door, after driving for 15+ hours.

Drove Jackhammer with assistance from a strap and 6 guys pulling. Watch the video. I dont think the result would have been much different had they not pulled on the strap. The choice was there for every team to do what we did. Everyone else winched. I said i was not going to winch JackHammer. If it took 3 goes and i DNFed then that was the way it would have ended. Im not knocking anyone for winching i just prefer not to unless im broken or on my roof :D

When i watched Darren Blackburn run around the course i thought for sure he had the trophy in the bag because the mog is Big Heavy and not realy easy to move fast and i thought there was no way i could drive these courses at that kind of pace.

When i started i had no intention of beating Darrens time but when i came out of the first section and was told it was the fastest run of the day to that point it was on  By the time i was at the holding gate after the second course i was at 6.01min and i knew darrens run was in the 9min area so i had to finish in less than 2min wether i winched or not if i wanted to win. My mind was made up at the start line that i was not winching. I got to the bottom of JackHammer and when i looked up im pretty sure i could see a pioneer ashphelt machine just leaving. My Team had placed every rock they could in every hole they could find and it realy looked like a highway up there. Scott hooked the snatch strap on the front before running to the top to join the others. Greg stood to the side and spotted for me(not that i was actually listening to his advisesorry Greg) All i could see was the top.
The Mog was running like a busted ass and kept fueling up. Thats why it stops part way up in the video. I just slipped the clutch a little and run it to about 5K and popped it. It just went straight up. To me CV rock felt like more of an obstical. It was a combination of the guys on the strap the rocks packed in the right places and last but not least a very Strong Vehicle.

As for the skid steering we have been doing this for nearly 2 years now some guys need to get with the times :D

The Event was awsome the organisation and officials i could not find a fault with it. The track was unreal and i will be back next year.

And the guys that having a cry about the Water/Mud. THIS WASNT ROCKCRAWLING it WAS AN ALLTERAIN EVENT! From my experiances mud and water is pretty normal in an allterain event. Personaly i would have prefered to drive the water before the rocks were placed in it but this wasnt my decision.

I would like to thank the On All 4s 4WD Club for organising the event, Dargle Gardens Ski park for holding the event, Sam Overton of Haultech Engineering for letting me abuse his rig once again, Wes Clifford for Spotting for me again, all of my Logan Districts Team members for paving and pulling for me, all the spectators that came to watch as these events realy cant run without you. And my sponsors Haultech Engineering, And ARB Southside if it wasnt for both of thes Companies i couldnt have made this trip happen.

Last but not Forgotten the TLCC Recovery Team, I know you guys get a hard time from most people but if it wasnt you guys putting your hand up to do recoveries then who is going to do it? You guys done a great job with very little thanks. If you guys ever want to do some recovery work at events in SE/QLD or Northern NSW let me know as we will be on the look out for some reliable groups to help us out in the near future.

Thanks Guys i will be back later on im going to catch up on some sleep :?

Oh yeah and Thanks Mum and Dad

Tony,

Really appreciate that post and all the info and want to say congratulations on a very precise drive.
I had a feeling you might be able to drive that ledge, if anyone could.

We were teamed with Cheezy and he wanted to drive it as well, but his lockers had failed by the time he got there.

We absolutely wanted to try and drive it and had been watching the lines and talking about it all arvo, but the hydro assist and left front shock busted and we just ran out of time after Cheezy.

We will try a lot harder next year :)
See everyone at tuff truck.

A big thanks to all the organisers of a very cool event!!!

cheers

Mick was hesident, and originally said " I'm not bashing your pannels". When Scott moved quickly to the pasenger window, stuck his hesd in, and commented nicely," don't worry about my fawkin car, just get past me". With that, we got Mick past. As Scott said," It's not fair to make Mick stop after all the effort we have put in to get here.( Woodpecker)
True, I saw no other teams trading pannels, but who is to say what they would do if put in the same position?.
All's I know, the guys from OA4's were pretty happy with the attempt & success, just as we were.

Congrats on a great effort by the Qld'ers, I still don't think I've seen as good a team as Dave and Greg, I reckon you could blindfold Dave and Greg would get him round the course, And good drive by Scott, even if he's not strong enough to use armstrong steering, just needs to workout more, Didn't get to hang around to see Ruffs drive, but the heat was overwhelming, especially with a big hangover and no sleep, I reckon Beebee would have drove JackHammer with more time, and what a move pushing Scott, thats a real team effort, a real good team effort guys, and hope to see you all in Tuff Truck ;)

I Also had my doubts that it could be driven totaly unassisted within either the time or without stacking as well as only having 3 attempts. And Guts will attest to these thoughts as i was discussing it with him before we drove the course. That is why we did it the way we did. I still beleive its Drivable and Jamie(Fourwheelin) I guess you are basing your opinion on the fact that your zook didnt have a hope in hell last year. This isnt your Zook! Its drivable no doubt in my mind and i belive after getting the line once it would be drivable first go every go. One of the jeeps came closer un-assisted than anyone ever has. He had the back wheels up over the bottom ledge. No one else that i watched could get the back wheels up before winching.

There were at least 5 rigs there(other than the MOG) on sunday that i totaly beleive could drive that obstical unassisted IF the driver was commited enough.

I am not saying that this was drivable under the competion conditions of Sunday. But its defianatly drivable.

In any case this was the most enjoyable competition i have ever entered and it is also the most satisfying win i have had. Winning at Put Up Or Shut Up was good but it realy was a win at a relitivly unknown event. So to come down and win in an all terrain event that i have never entered before and to compete against a lot of seasoned competitors from this event and come out on top this is an achivement i will remember for a long time.

Thanks everyone for the competition. It realy was great to compete against you all and meet as many as i did. I will return. Maybe we might have to build 3 more mogs to run a full team of these next year

Also a huge thanks to John McDonald of J MAC Diff & Gear. After we unloaded Link's patrol we realised it had a blown detroit in the front and when John heard about this he offered to take Terry's Complete Diff Centre 40min back to his workshop and repaired it with brand new parts for us. We hade never met the guy and he didnt know us from a bar of soap. He also never charged us on the spot and is going to send us the bill.

If anyone in Sydney or surrounding areas needs diff work done please contact John. I doubt you could find a better guy to deal with.

Anybody that thinks that the mog wouldnt be able to drive jackhammer unassisted and no rocks stacked really has no idea of what is drivable. The obstacle wasnt all that hard. The mog drove up there with no run up, a motor that was barely making 100 horse power and without lifting a wheel or hardly spinning a tyre.

If the mog drove in there full noise, skyed the front tyres when they hit the ledge at the top, landed full noise, bounced a few times and scrambled its way to the top spitting out rocks left right and centre then I would agree - it was a tough obstacle and it needed the stacked rocks and the strap. But that didnt happen - it just drove up there first attempt without any trouble at all - check out the video - it doesent get much easier than that.

What, do you guys think that it would diff out or something if the holes wernt filled?? The only reason they stacked the holes or used the strap is because the rules allowed it without penality.

And Im sorry to say that the way most (I could say all here) of the other big rigs tried to drive the obstacle they still wouldnt have a hope in hell of making it if they filled the holes or used the strap. All the other big rigs tried to crawl it and there is no way that they would drive it that way - none of them even looked like driving it.

Tony was the only rig to drive Jackhammer and he drove it easily.

No one denies that it drove up there assisted. Almost every vehicle could have driven it the way i did. Everyone else was obviously happy to winch.

The reason i say almost every vehicle could have driven up there with 6 guys and a highway is because i would have thought every vehicle could have driven through without running the bunting over in the first course

Just my opinion :finger:
