I have to give a huge rap to John from J MAC Diff & Gear. Taking it all the way back to Blacktown? and rebuilding it in time for us to get it back in Saturday night was fantastic.. He was also excellent to deal with, and I'd highly recommend them.. .. If I'd dealt with them before that day I also might not be trying to drive the tracks without a fully working rear locker as well

Big rap to the On All 4's club for a great event.. You can see the level of work that goes into it.. and thanks to the TLCC recovery team for recovering my stranded POS

Awesome drive Tony - the entire course, and not just Jackhammer.. I think that you could have driven Jackhammer unassisted.. The effects of the stacking was minimal, and after hanging off that strap and feeling the weight of the thing I'd say we had minimal effect as well.. Either way, to do it in that time was awesome..

Dave and Scotty had awesome drives as well.. Sorry to let all you guys down by bringing down my POS in an unready state.. I have no doubt the Logan club had a shot at taking out the teams if the 4th vehicle was ready..

All in all the spirit of Wood Pecker is for all to have fun and, I'm sure we all did.
I've captured some footage last night and will put something quick together tonight. Excellent footage of the Mogrover in action throughout the whole course. I'm excited and I also want now to purchase some Mog running gear.

Firstly Congrats Tony,
Great Drive.
Also to his group of team mates, you all worked great together,
I think that your experience was the key factor to the driving of the last step, as well as a few balls. I could definately see the rock crawling experience was well used in the all-terrain event. I am sure that a lot of guys will take this experience with them & adopt it to many events.....
Its not just driving, its smart driving....
Knowing the rules & using them to your advantage within the allocated time.
ps: Tony, I don't think sam would have driven it he's gettin a bit soft in his old age:

What a great event, I was glad to finally be back involved with comps, its been so long since I had my POS driving.
I must say it takes a bit of time to get used to the truck.19 months away from it obviosly showed....
I was happy enough just to be there & drive my big rig through the entire track with out breaking the bunting.. or the truck.

When you say congratulations BUT you need to stop playing with yourself doesent really come across all that sincere.

Im saying the Mog would have driven it easily without the strap or the stacking.

I also said that the way the other big rigs tried to drive the jackhammer they still wouldnt have been able to drive it with the strap or the stacked rocks because they all tried to crawl the obstacle. If they tried to crawl over the stacked rocks they would just spin them out. The best way to drive that obstacle was to do it with momentum and throttle.

If Tony went first (instead of last) I think things would have been a lot different and a lot more rigs would of driven it.

At the end of the day, the mog had a great drive, I don't think anyone can dispute the capability of the rig, or it's driver.

However, it was 1 of 4 drives from that team. This wasn't Tuff Truck, it was Woodpecker, which is a team event.

I was paired up with Tony, and it was a team decision before we started to do everything to get him over Jackhammer as quickly that we could.. My rear locker was always going to let go at some point, and it was a pretty good bet a front CV would go soon after.. The team plan was as soon as that happened, abandon me where I was, and we all go and help him.. It worked, and he won the individual.. BeeBee and Scotty (other pairing) played as a team and both got to Jackhammer.. The biggest problem we had was a truck that we just didn't have time to sort properly before we got down there.. The teamwork however was excellent, and we got the best we could hope for governing the situation..

the way i see it, i think we all can agree on a few things here;

a there is fucj all traction on jackhammer, dust, soil and if you're really lucky you might get your tyres on the rock.

b the obstacle is not the biggest, craziest obstacle ever driven. ive seen a lot of the competitors that failed on sunday drive crazier stuff than that dusty bum crack,

c anyone is going to have a hard time crawling that thing, there just isnt enough traction/.

d darren blackburn got within a bees dick of driving it last year and compared to a lot of other vehicles, his is relatively tame.

e tony read the situation well and drove it accordingly

I'm not the one bragging on how good i am,You did'nt even drive.
As for not having a rig capable enough,You tend to forget THAT MY TEAM MATE & I WON THE EVENT LAST YEAR.

Ruff did an awesome job and drove jackhammer!
Simple as that.
His first post was great and laid everything out clear as day.
For people losing sight of things go and read it again, as I was very impressed with the content.

A lot of other rigs could also potentially drive jackhammer but didn't on the day.
I thought Cheezy might do it as he loves the skinny pedal but was apparently without lockers for the last part of the track. Although we were his team mate and right behind him I didn't even get to see him try it as I was too busy getting Shane lined up. Heard him give it some stick though.

I thought we might have a chance by going up to the right and trying a different line to most, but the steering was busted too much and it fell off the line and we timed out.
Hell I thought we might even get Sam Keck close on a strap at the end, but we ran out of time
And I am sure there are others that got closer...

I thought a few of the bigger rigs were definitely a bit soft on jackhammer and didn' really give it a big go. I got to see Dobbins getting really squeezed by it so I am not sure if he was too wide. (Is the mogrover wider or skinnier?)
You never know what their agenda is and whether they have breakage etc.
Some people are happy to come out for the day and finish because it is their first comp (like us )
Some people are driving their rig home.
Some have just finished building something or haven't driven their rig for ages and don't want to go that hard.
I am sure their will be a lot more people trying their hardest to drive it next year

I am just hanging out for the DVD so I can really appreciate all of the vehicles and teams and what sort of drives they all had.

Learned heaps from this comp, and it was great to meet a lot of people and just watch all different rigs and drivers trying to drive stuff.

Can't wait for tuff truck and another shot at jackhammer next year

I though Jackhammer looked driveable, and Ruff did a nice job proving it.

A strategically placed rock or two certainly didn't hurt, nor did the 6 blokes hanging off the strap. How much difference?? Who cares, it worked and it was within the rules.

Smart tactics I say. If Ruff had been early in the program you probably would have seen plenty more people try that tactic - and maybe even some more rigs finding a way up.

I was happy to get to jackhammer after the 1,000 turns with busted steering and fluid squirting all over the shop. Am very much looking forward to giving it a nudge next year... I thought the course was great, although if I was one of the guys stuck in the first boghole I may have felt different.

Thought they said at the breefing though that the course was changing next year to a diferent location (on the same property)??

Maybe we will have to wait a bit longer to see someone else drive jackhammer in a comp...

I'm sure some will turn up... we weren't quite organized to nominate a team photographer... or a 4th team member for that matter... our 4th had a prang on the way, jack-knifed the trailer and wrote off his rig.
