22R Belt Slip Remedy?
G'Day fellas,
I have a problem with my old 22R motor.
She's done 350,000 KMs (Rebuilt once)
The belt slips chronically at anything OVER 3000RPM.
Under 3000RPM is usually fine.
I've tried the old CRC Belt-slip (Does little)
Is this problem purely a belt tension issue??
I've already adjusted the belt a little, but could go tighter.
What is the general rule with belt tightness on a 22R?
I don't want to do damage by tightening too much.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a 22R and I tighten the belts up so they have about the thickness of a belt give...(if that makes any sense)
i.e.
if the belt if 1cm thick, I have it loose enough so that the belt can be pushed in upto 1cm (max)
I have had no problems although I had to replace the alternator belt the other day as I could not adjust any more!

Is the belt worn, if so replace it as they only cost around $10-$20 depending on which one u need.

I might head into the workshop tonight after work.
I'll tighten to the specifications you gave me.
I only have 1 belt on my motor,
It runs from the balancer, to the alternator, to the pump.
And I always take a spare in case that slipping noise
turns into a snapping noise! You never know.

Tightened the belt last night to about 1.5 cms slack
(the width of the belt) it seems to have worked!!!
I'll just carry the wrench for adjusting the alternator offset
around with me so next time she slips, I'll just wind it out a little
further.
