Can you all please justify why you have chosen that particular vehicle as being better?

From peoples experiences, which is the stronger unit? Which motor goes better (is the Navara motor the same as the patrols)? Driver comfort? Towing capacity? etc...

Better for towing, general 4 wheel driving, Weekend stints in the bush.

Highway travel.

I'm not interested in doing ridiculous amounts of mods and crap like that.

The less I have to change the better.

I ask this because I have driven 3.0TD patrols and want to know if it is the same motor as in the Navara's.

Sadly yes its the same motor.

But look at the lux, there are squillions of people out there with off the shelf accessories, and the same amount of spares and wrecked ones if need be.

Bogged. Does the Navara TD motor go better than the hilux TD?

Hasn't nissan addressed the issues with blowing pistons and stuff like that?

Go and drive both, what I like and what you like may be different things.

remember there is no intercooler on the Navara compared to the GU either

Hilux for spares, after market bits, re sale value.
We have 04 td double cab nissans at work, not much room in the back even for a little bloke. They also seem a bit fragile compared to a lux.

I suppose spares are a big part of it. If they're readily available it helps.

When you're only going to own it for about 5 years from new, do you still think the spare parts debate comes into it?

Well if you are only going to own it for five years then resale value is proberly one of your main concerns, plus if you don't like the one you buy, then buy the other on in five years, Then you will know! :D

Navara is still running drums on the rear, I don't know about the lux however I think that's a bit poor on a 2004/5 built vehicle...

From what I understand, the later model IFS hilux's aren't all that compatible with previous models aftermarket equipment?

The next modle hilux will also feature drums (saw it in 4x4 Australia, so I'm hopping thats a good enough source). And I believe the current model hilux also uses them. It seems to be standard in this class of vehicle to have drums at the back.

due to minor hostility on this thread i will just say navara simply as its a nice looking truck and a few puts arse extras make the driver feel all sporty and stuff.......... like sporty spice of the duel cab world....

this ssems to be what allot chasing

Depends on what your needs are. I went for the Navara because of the comfort and the bling bling of the interior compared to the bland and smaller interior of the Hilux. Also the biggest advantage is the power / torque of the ZD30 engine of Nissan. The Navara ZD30 runs a different turbo setup to the Patrol and has never had any issues.

Go and drive both vehicles as that is the best way to make your choice.

and how much is new a defender compared to new a navara or lux???????
plus if you are buyin a ute you proly want a decent amount of tray space, somthin u won't get on a defender crew cab!

1) Not a lot more (When you factor in putting in a proper front diff into the other two) :twisted:

2) D130 Crew I suggest would be bigger than either a lux or navara.
