BES turbo timer

Post by phippsy »

OK, so I have got a BES turbo timer with the 1,3,5 increments for a good price but with no instruction for wiring, other than to go back and look at the vehicle it came out of. There a 5 wires out the back of it

Red, 12v constant?
Blue, ignition?
Black, earth
White x2, look like speaker wire connected to a relay inside the unit. On the donor vehicle these were joined together further down the line.

Anyone used one of these or know where I could find the wiring on the net, have had a pretty good look at different sites but haven't found anything useful.

Not much help, but i had one and wired it to a car which had thermos and when they came on it would blow the transistors used to hold the ign on, wasn't straightforward to wire a relay either.
But if you do wire it up the wrong way and it gets hot and stops working the transistors are easy to replace, just get em from dick smith.
Sorry i can't remember how it was wired. I think BES has something to do with a company called bogaurd?
There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots

Went and had a look at the donor vehicle and found out

1 white and blue joined together then onto 1 end of a wire that had been cut with the other white wire to the other end, ignition wire?

Red, went to the switch on the back of the brake pedal?
Black, earth

any ideas anyone??

Just wired up a turbo timer in a mates WRX. In this case the red went to constant +12v the blue to ign and the black to earth. This timer also had a wire for the brakes the manual said to wire up to the hand brake so when you turn the car off it kills the motor if the hand brake is not.
