Narrow 35/36" tyre

Post by cplux »

What are my options for a narrow as possible tyre in the 35/36" range to suit a 16" rim. Want to store in factory hilux position. Currently have a 33x9.5 bfg i want to get rid of and replace.

cheers

Q78 swamper is 35.5x11 or so :)
34" Simex JT2's measure out at 34.5x10.5 as well which is more than some 35's...

The older Silverstones MT117's are pretty thin. Not sure how thin, but they look thinner than my JT2's. The JT's came out of the guards on my lux but the Silverstones don't.

I just got a set of Silverstone MT117's yesterday 285/75/16 and
they are taller and wider than a 285 BF all terrain. They measure
some where around 34". :D

You sure you can fit a 35-36" tyre under there?
It looked pretty tight under there when I had my 33" spare in mine.

michelin do a 255/100r16 xzl. about 36.5 inches tall 255mm wide and a radial 4 block pattern. pretty expensive but its a truck tyre so quite strong. a guy in sweden runs these on his land rover 110. says there pretty good in mud to.

A q78 is narrow for it's height, and you mighth be able to under rim it (recommended 7", go to a 6" say) to squish it up a bit more, but I know that the MT117's crown up a treat on a 6" rim and would have to be pretty narrow.

I think you are forgetting 9.00 x 16's though - a mildly agressive truck drive tyre would be fine and on a 6" rim it will be REALLY narrow, also between 35-36" tall. My dad used to run a 8.25 16 as a spare with 9 34 16 swampers an a split rim - It was fine and pretty cheap.
