ideas on repairing rear quarter panel

Post by Tzi »

I'm looking into buying this feroza (sometime this week), and was wondering if you guys had any ideas on the cost involved to fix such a dent.
obviously the flare will need to be replaced (daiauto has em for $132 each  ) but the panel behind it has no rips, cuts, or cracks... its just dented.
is the panel accessible from the inside? or is it a double panel?
I can see in the photo (and the several others I have) that the panel has a join under the front ddor, and just above window(bottom) level...
is it a removable panel by some chance?? :?

has anyone had such damage repaired?

thanks in advance --Tzi

As you've seen from the flare price Daihatsu parts aren't cheap.... Even the end caps on the bumper bar are very expensive IIRC. There could easily be other damage in behind the panel to the floor pan and fuel filler, plus the chassis rails run fairly close to where that damage is.

I'd suggest to forget it and keep looking for another one.

You should be able to find a few around if you're prepared to travel to Ballarat and possibly Melbourne. The one you're looking at appears to be an ELII/ III (?) narrow track; a widetrack FerozaII would be better if you can find one in your price range.

There is a wide track for sale in the trading post for 6999, which is a little outside my price range.
I 'm hoping to trade in my charade, with a changeover figure of 3k.. so I am looking at under $6000 to get a feroza.
if you have any suggestions then that'd be cool, I'll be heading off to melb tomorrow to look at 2 in that price range. there's none in ballarat that I know of tho.

Try searching on the Trading Post on line www.tradingpost.com.au ; plus search these sites :

http://www.carsales.com.au/

http://www.carpoint.com.au/

http://www.carsbyweb.com.au/

I had a quick look on Carsales and a white 1992 DX came up in Ballarat districts for $4888; plus some others below $6000 in Melbourne suburbs.
