Which head gaskets do I use

Post by ytt105 »

I've got a 3.9 block with 3.5 heads. The heads are going to be shaved, probably for the second time at least.
Do I fit tin gaskets, (that's what came off), or composite.

Will composites make up for the difference I'll be losing after the shaving?

What size do I ask for, 3.5 or 3.9?

The 3.9 has a larger bore than the 3.5 so using 3.5 gasket would not be good.

And definately use the composite gaskets, it will help make up for what was skimmed and also seal better than the tin (so i've been told).
