yj spring kits and that junk

Been thinking of what suspension I want to run cause everyone knows how much stock sucks Thought about coil kits for primo bling, RUF and all the usuals around here. All of which are good options

But with the number of people being defected and seeing so many derelict zooks without rego etc makes me a bit anxious about doing permanent modifications. Wouldn't be an issue if I lived in a different state (cept WA )

So I've been looking at bolt on options which are easily removed if (when ) I'm asked to go for inspection The best of which I think would be a bolt on YJ kit like the RRO one.

A couple of questions though. Is this the only bolt on one round As far as I can see the others are weld on

Also I know yj's are rare here but hilux fronts are the same physical size Solves one problem. However the hilux have an offset centre which would put the axle in a different place to a centred spring. Does anyone know which way it is offset or roughly how different the axle location would be

hey mick i got the rro bolt on kit, with the ott steering, and yj springs,by the time i bought all the gear and second hand springs from the states, plus freight, yadda yadda yadda, all the labour i did myself, including all the neseccary diff mods for caster, i presume ur goin spring over otherwise dont waste ur time...all in all if overkill were doin there kit when this was happenin i wouldnt of bought it but gone coils would of even been cheaper my a margain, dont get me wrong this kit works great but for dollar value u cant go past the coil kit.also u can get yj springs here , cause arb sell them to the states and they r made here will run into approx the $700 mark. have fun deciding..

Thanks Bazooked I won't be importing springs or steering just bracketry if I do it That'll keep cost down. It's $425 US (550 AUSish) + freight for the front and rear systems which is far shy of coils Could still fab it cheaper locally probably but the time saved and bolt on/off ability makes it worthwhile to me

Why do you say it's a waste in SUA Seems ok to me. I'm defininetly NOT going SOA

Wouldn't be getting new yj springs either. Why spend $700 when hilux fronts are give aways I would only want standard height springs too cause even they give a small lift.

as far as i know hilux front springs arnt offset

trail tough do a bolt on kit it uses missing link upfront though

i dont think u would be able to get very big tires at all on yjs sua
they tuck up in the the wheel arch alot

there are a few pics on the net somwhere of the tt kit on a sua rig
if i rember correct he was runnin 31's and they were hitting on the headlight bucket pretty bad

i run the tt rear yj kit wich would have been revealed in a search

yeah the hilux is a centered pin I measured one last night I'd been told otherwise

I don't want to run any bigger than 31 because it's a road going piece of crap Your kit didn't come up in a search either redzook Thanks for the input though, are you pretty happy with it

Pretty sure I'll import the front kit bolt on from rro now. Seems like the rear won't fit a lwb but its so farkin simple I'll just make that anyway

Will I need steering modifications with yj/ lux fronts in front

Or driveshaft alterations/ spacers

yeah mate sua.. soa is a no no here I'll deal with the headlight bucket rub when I get there

The lwb has way different rear hangers it seems. My rear shackle andle is nearly vertical now with stock springs so I'll move the fixed mount forward 2-3", add a 1" longer shackle and let the spring push it out the other 1-2" so the angle is good.

Simple and basically free

Ah cool. Thats the way i have done my front springs to fit the RUF.

I would reckon a drop pitman would be needed at least for the flex.

for eazy fitment & the benefit of being able to remove the kit id say go a skyjacker yj kit $100.00 us for each end

it can be removed for resale of kit or vehicle
if needed

ull just need to chase down your own yj springs
and your own shock & brake lines -custom lenght tail shafts etc
witch would be needed for any spring conversion of choice

or it has 1/4 eleptic in the rear

edit : just had a closer look it is leaf springs with a huge DROP ARM

thicker leafs tho?
they also come flat from the factory
so i dont thikn use SUA people will get much lift

narrow track diahatsu feroza are the leafs u want
but they have an offest pin wich is a good thing if you wana push out your wheelbase

also what are u doing for bushes in the toy springs? as i think they need like a 19mm bolt?

i know mine was a lwb to start with no it just another 10.5 inches longer

who makes those arms? All I see at trailready are bumpers and wheels
