new to this forum. got 2 trucks on the go at the moment - daily driver is a 1986 110 isuzu converted back to a 4 speed with a few mods (35s 4" lift etc etc) and the other truck is my bushie project. based on a 94 300tdi defender 110 with a zf auto 38" TSLs etc.
Anyways, putting in the oil cooler (standard disco one) today for the ZF and ralised how small they are. Is it reccomended that i chuch it and get a bigger one or is it best to leave it as is? anyone else changed theirs?
Andrew.

Do ZF autos overheat?
Moderator: Micka
G'day all. I have a ZF auto behind my 300tdi, turning 35's and run 2 coolers both with electric fans for slow work. After having to rebuild mine after overheating i dont take chances anymore. The ZF use's a plastic shim washer which melts when things get warm and then you run into dollars. I never let mine get above 100c now and get nervous with anything above 90 really. But with twin coolers and fans mine genarally runs around 65-70 offroad or cooler depending on terrain.
