Need to change the diff centre in my 70, but the old one comes off the damn bolts and then doesnt want to budge. It is busted after being welded. Here are some pics.
This is meant to be screwed right in so you cant see the thread, correct? perhaps this be the problem. Tried hitting it around but again it wont budge. I might need to take a grinder to all of it
Look how far its off the DAMN BOLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a ChickenHawk, looking for a Chicken. Better go for cover when you hear my valves clickin'
glen adam is right, the carrier bearing adjuster you can see in that pic is loose, and needs to be screwed back in before the diff will come out. the bad news is, if the carrier bearing retaining bolts are still tight, those screws are really hard to turn.
did you put it together without the carrier bearing adjuster nut stop tabs?? (the little useless looking steel tabs held on the ends of the bearing retainer caps by weedy little M8 bolts)
I would post a pic but there is no room left on the board for nay more pics.
Its definalty loose you can see the thread and did the centre grinade that will be the cause and I hope that isn`t the one That just had the locker put in or someone will be in trouble
