Clutch troubles

Post by Rexlux »

I have swapped a 1KZ-TE 3.0 turbo diesel and matching 5 speed into 84 hilux. Using stock 1KZ clutch and slave cylinder but 84 hilux master cylinder. The engine has only done about 12 000km (should not be worn out) and the take up point in the clutch pedal is right at the top. I am getting heaps of shudder when I take off.

Gearing is a bit high and getting a bit of axle wrap in the rear but it jumps like a bloody kangaroo down the road.

Could there be a miss match between the master and slave cylinder.

I think I will give it a good bleed and see if that helps.

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Try shortening the pushrod that connects the pedal to the master, if you haven't already. Bad engine and gearbox mounts can cause shudder.

The throw out bearing is stuffed or maybe the spigot bearing if it has one, these are the reasons for tall pedal and shudering. If the donk was sitting for a while the bearings could be bugged.
