front shackle angle on lux

I was just checking out my shackle angle at the front the other day and now i am thinking of makn a bracket and movin the mount lower and further forward to increase the angle on the shackle. Anyone done this? Any problems in doing it?

I guess im just thinking of what effect.....if any at all..... that it might have on the height and the pinion angle (if moving it might rotate the diff a little).......which wouldnt be a bad thing in my case

Not a bad idea if you want to retain your height but run shorter shackle. The angled shackle would give same flex as the vertical extended one you would think.
Like phippsy said tho- longer spring pack would give best of both worlds.

I want to lower the mount to get a better shackle angle. If i use the stock mount the shackle wont get the angle due to the body mount brackets in the way.

Why not fit a decent spring in there n put the orig shackle in then the shackle angle should be like that

he is running ifs rear springs in the front if im correct, these are pretty long springs for the front!!!! mayb as someone else surgested and just use a shorter shackle would be easier?

I just made up some brackets to mount mine under the chassis the other day. I didnt move mine forward however but I see why you want to. I just copied the rear ones, was a piece of piss. Can put some pics up if you really want.

Ok,

Heres the pics. Sorry they are a bit blurry but its dark downstairs and it was a bit of a guessing game where the camera was pointing lol.

The tube is actual tube from cut off rear shackle mounts. But you can make your own. Im pretty sure it is 40mm OD. The brackets are made from 75x50 RHS. Think mine is 3.2mm wall but thicker is always better. I started with 5mm but I farked it. Just make sure you have the chassis to tube angle right when marking up the rhs. Then drill your holes along the centreline of the 75mm sides. I just used a 38mm hole saw. Then cut along this centre line and you have brackets for both sides. Then grind down the edges of the holes. They need to be more elyptic (sp?) to allow for the angle of the tube. I also tapered the corners of the brackets to make them look more like the stock rears. Weld it all up and bobs yer uncle.

Obviously you will move yours further back but the mounts would be exactly the same. Keep in mind this is a fair drop in the mount.

I was looking at the Sky Manufacturing site and saw these and was wondering about the 1" spacer to do away with having the shackles go narrower to accomodate the springs being narrower than the chassis rail and was wondering if anyone could think of any downfalls with them?? except for DOT or RTA people frowning on them.

I think hypo meant standard rears?
IFS rears up front, without the spring hangers moved forward about 3", would need a very loooooong shackle.

I already have std rears up front and my hangars are moved forwards 1.5"-2"

yeah i had std rears in mine but wen i webt 2 the ifs rears i used this shackle also and it seemed 2 work sweeeeeeet
if u go ifs rears u need 2 redrill your spring perches on the diff coz they r 40mm longer in the front half of spring

been there done that works well the only prob ive had is i used standard reartoyota shakles & bcause they r not tapperd like the original fronts they bend so im ganna fab some up out of 6- 8 mm plate & see what happends
