hilux steering problem

Ive got a real loose ball joint on some arm (don't what this arm is called so i will post pics) which is giving me alot of steering play.
but i cant figure out how to remove it.

here is the pics of it.

pull the split pin out of the slot in the end and use a big flat blade screw driver to turn the center out then wiggle it around and it will pop out

or just take the split pin out and use a flat blade screw driver and give it a turn or two untill you think it is tight and replace the split pin

thanks..

i already did try this but my screw driver must have been big enuf, cus nothing turned, or maybe im just weak.

i will get some WD40 on it i thinks..

and what was this thing called?

drag link, that sounds fast

i tried it again.. i took out the split pin and tried to turn the end using the grove the split pin was in and nothing.. didnt even budge a little both ways?

yeah i had the same problem before i went cross over.

try getting some vice grips onto the screw drive. that might help ;)

just check and make sure its not the other end that maybe lose cause both ends can be loose

very stupid toyota steering system they should all come out x-over to start with :) :) :)

maybe the ball on the j-arm or pitman arm is buggered. I know my j-arm had a worn ball. Got 2nd hand one from wreckers and all was good

Put a cresent on the flats of the screwdriver and work it to & fro.
Those balls can come loose in the J arm and stg box drop arm as well.
