How the .... do I get this apart.
Without a press, is it possible to get the (front) disk off of a Lux solid axle hub?
I've seen the IFS hubs where the wheel studs are part of hub, but with the solid axle hub the studs seem to be mounted into disk and poke through the hub. I've tried to pound the hub from the disk but to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

You can see in the bottom of one picture how the piece of timber I was hammering against crushed rather that moving the hub.

You were right Brad. Undo the two bolts and press out the studs. Thanks.
Hypo, I'm about 2 days ahead of you. I ended up using my vehicle jack inside an old metal frame the Mrs uses as a pot plant potting table and pressed out each stud. Once they were out the hub and the disk came apart by hand.

Hypo, I got my spacers from Chaos and the ISF hubs out of Franks Parts Plus in Canberra (I know one of the guys, so they give me half-reasonable prices).
Looking at it now that it’s all apart, it appears that the studs actually engage into the hub and just pass through the disk, thus the problems I was having trying to get the two apart.
Sitting down with the verniers, it looks like you end up with just over 35mm per side.

But not reasonable right? They quoted me $950 for 60 series disk brake coversion parts. I eventually got them from a guy in Waniassa for $150. The best thing I have found at Franks was reverse.

yeah i got a set from Chaos also they look sweet, i have fitted the spacers 2 the ifs hubs already i just got flush out and repack the bearings and remove the solid axle disk and fit it 2 the spacer and bolt her all back 2gether..

i dont think so mate cos i pretty sure that a cruiser will have bigger hub but maybe the bearings can b changed 2 make it work i duinno

I know that a couple of years ago I rebuilt a mates 86/87 hilux frt end and we used the same size brgs as is my 60. Did the sizes change with the IFS frt end?
If they are the same size etc it mite be a cheaper option for me to gain more axle width...

Have a few sets of bearings floating around and my old solid axle hubs if this will help with measurements larry. drop round if you can remember where i live and have a looksee.

You dont need to space the whole rear just the outer drum, and it would work.

BJ, any ideas how much offset rims would cost and where I could source them? I presume they'll have to be specially made? I'm currently running 16x8's with Cruiser offset, I only want bout nother 1" either side(atmost)

any race shop, engineering shop, fab shop, can do custome wheels, another 1" per side is easy enough they cut the centre out and move it back a little, arou nd $70 to $90 per wheel,

I've found a tyre joint that will actually talk sense and help me, the rims I've got are actually 80 series rims not 75 series.(which are 15mm further offset). Looks like I'll just have to buy new rims. Mmmm, now how to explain this to she who must be obeyed...............
