Hi Guys. Great board you have here. Very informative especially for an offroad beginner like me.

I love Pajero's. I have two back home back in the Philippines - both LWB - 1989 and 1999 models. Details of my rigs are in the signature area. I'm currently in Bangkok for a 2 year work assignment. Anyway, in our part of the world the 1989 Pajero is commonly referred to as a Gen 1 model and the 1999 units are called Gen 2.5 models. I'm sure you guys know that!

The Gen 2.5 is the daily drive rig while the Gen 1 serves both as a daily drive and weekend trail rig (relatively easy trails).

Future modifications planned for the Gen 1:

1. 5 inch IFS Lift Kit by Unicorn Suspension systems (Thailand Company)
- I just bought the kit two weeks ago. Won't be able to install this until May - my next trip back home
2. 32 or 33 inch MT's - most likely BFG's
3. 5.29 diffs in order to properly turn the slightly larger tires
4. ARB rear locker
- A possible Christmas present from my wife. Yeah right! :D

No immediate plan to upgrade the offroad capability of the Gen 2.5, yet.

Hi Frank. Thanks for the warm welcome.

"Surplus" (second hand units) 5.29 diffs are readily available here in Bangkok. I had my secretary make a few calls last week and 2 shops have them in stock. I have not inquired if they have brand new units.

Would you know what size diffs my Gen 1 would have? I want to be sure I get the right size 5.29 diffs. Any tips on what to look out for in a second hand set of diffs will be much appreciated.

Click on the link below to view two pics of the IFS Lift Kit I got a couple of weeks back. It has 26 parts in total and it already includes parts for a "Spring over Axle" conversion for the rear. My Gen 1 is leaf sprung at the back.
