hey guys & girls,
i want to make some room for 33's under my series 3 SWB, i have parabolics so spring mods are limited, how can i lift this bastard without too much trouble? Anyone tried this?
Bodylift looks difficult... very! How long can i make my shackles before they overturn?
Pls Help.... Any info on fitting 33's to a series rover would be great! Especially offsets... etc.

why lift, when you can trim? hehe this is my truck on Q78 super swampers with just 2 leaf rocky mountain parabolics all the way around. the Q78s are 36x11, btw. there are stock series axles under there and the wheels are stock series 15s that i put on backwards- dont do this! they dont fit and i put them on to see what it would look like only.

You can fit 33's without any lifting, but you will probably need to trim the outer guards - i.e. can install defender wheelarch flares or similar.
I have 33's (285/75/16's) on my IIA without any guard cutting, but it has an extra 1.5" of suspension lift over yours (std military). I have the tyres fitted to Disco rims that have been offset 30mm further out.
You can fit military shackles on the rear, which will only give 0.75" of lift because you don't have extended front spring hangers. Note that this is probably illegal under QLD law. You cannot really lift the front by the same method as this will alter the diff pinion angle and you will probably have issues with the front prop/unis.

As you can see in this one the rears only just fit within the std guards. with the 30mm offset the tyres don't rub anything. When I had 235/85's on std disco rims (see avatar) both front and back would rub the inner guards on full articulation. It doesn't do any damage - just makes them shiny.

Sorry didn't make myself clear.
The pics I posted are of S1 Disco stell rims (bolt straight to every LR pre the SII Disco and The last 2 RR models - but to bolt to a SI/II/IIA you need larger wheel nuts).
HOWEVER - my disco rims have had the offset increased by 30mm (EXTRA OVER STD) which you would need to get an engineering shop to do.
Also - good luck trying to find a set of disco rims now.

I got quoted about $80 a rim by Race Engineering to get them modified (so expensive because you have to spin the centres, weld up the old valve stem hole and redrill another one).
I ended up finding a guy on the northside who did them for about $50 a rim. He did a good job - they balanced up better than the originals. PM me if you want his details - don't have them with me at the moment.
