82 yota steering fouling U bolt

Post by Guy »

After a bit if stuffing around I have noticed that the drag link (litle arm from the steering box to the U arm on a stock lux) is hitting the rear most u bolt
i will be removing a few leaves to softern the front up a bit making the pack that bit thinner, hopefully stopping the bind. (at least until I go crossover)

If I find the front end to soft, is there a special low profile U bolt I can use ?? (the springs are kings I think and are very little lift, may even be stock height replacement)

Yes there is a flat topped u bolt yo can get, ARB sell em. Once you get good flex out of a hilux front you need to change both u bolts but one is ok for basicly stock springs.

Sometimes the ARB U bolt wasn't enough and we used to cut the bump-
stop mount plate on a 45degree angle so it located under the curve of the rear U bolt and fully under the front one, allowing the rear U bolt to drop another 6mm.
