Still recovering from the weekend... had such a blast and im still feelin the aftershock after work
heres a video that my gf took of the landrover buggy goin up the climb - quicktime format again.. (ive gotta get another camera that can do mpeg shots as its a pain in the arse with quicktime as i dont have a good enough converter yet... )

One word AWSUM
Probably the hardest comp I have been a part of and geeze was it hard.We were outclassed by the buggies but we did try hard and held our own fairly well I thought. Congrats to Adrian for winning that is the slowest i have ever seen him drive.
As for his comentating i thought it was piss poor and in very bad taste as i was the brunt of most of his bagging.
Thanks goes out to Sam for letting us be part of this series and for an awsum event .
The other teams were all very well prepared and the team work was amazing from all teams. Bee Bee and greg stood out again although there was a new team on the show that i think will be a force to be wreckoned with. Tom and Mick awsum display for a new truck and new team.
My only concerns over the weekend were the amount of media in the way when beeing a spotter as they got in the way quite often and this is more of a safety concern rather than a bitch..And the scoring and rulles need to be explained a little clearer . I think 2 scorers might be worth a try just to try and keep a bit more consistancy in the scoring as i think it is imposible for one scorer to see everything.

absolutely graet w/e i hav about 5 hours of video to go through so should have another vid up by the w/e.
not to sound like an echo but if the vid and pic ppl on the course are not filmin can they get off track

As far as media goes here my 2c:
as a spectator on day 1 where the courses were short and tight, yes the yellow shirts did at times make it difficult, but on day2 they had plenty of room and you hardly noticed them.
as a competitor i was never hindered in any way, simon(4wdtv) was never to be seen even though he was alway mm's from the action, and there professionalism showed when i even heard miranda telling one of the other guys to move out of the road so that the spotter had room to move - impressive.

Not really, it's exciting enough without adding female degradation to it. Then again It'd be good to see some of the boys in the mud..........Flashbacks of those toight toight shorts...hehe
Now I know cheezy and I could have done it with less points if I!!!!!!!!!!! thought about a few things more, like less stops and less reversing but the way I looked at it was I tried this on day 1 and we DNF`d both stage 2 and 3. On day 2 I decided to not worry about these things and just get on with the job of finishing the course within the time, we finished all 3 stages so I am happy with the way we did things. I decided to do this mainly because it was a new rig, new scoring system, different event and tracks then what both cheezy and I are used to so I think we had enough to worry about without trying to save 2 or 3 points here and there.
I also know I stuffed up afew times here and there with where I put the locked cheezy monster like stage 2 day 1, I put him back wards about 1 inch to far and we payed the price. Also write at the end of stage 3 day 2, I misunderstood the 3 wheels between the cones thing and stuffed around and copped afew more reversing points then we needed to, but hay I`m certain I`m not the only one over the weekend that lernt heeps about werock, sam included.
Two things about the event I really loved,
1, having the 1st stage of each day the easiest out of them as it really helps with letting you wake up and get settled in to the days action.
2, the safety ropes, I have never seen this happen at an event before and often thought if somebody rolls here they could possibly roll over and over and over before they would come to a stop. These safety ropes are the best safety thing I have ever seen at a comp and think more comps should have them in place.
As for the scoring system, its a new event so its new to all of us including the event organisers. This is mainly what I think this year of werock is for, for EVERYBODY involved to learn so that when the yanks are coming over here to compete it is up to their standard of events and are not turned off coming back again and again and again.
As for outside assistance, you normaly don`t here anything while on the cousre as you are working that hard it is like everything is silent other then the rig and the driver (if he yells at ya). But as Sam has pointed out he made a boo boo and missed that ruling. Maybe spectators need to be fully warned as they come in the gate they can be kicked out of the event for yelling at the teams what to do.
Cheezy and I lernt alot more about working together as a team and I think come tuff truck we will be excelent as a team.

Sam thanks for giving us the buggy for the event it realy was a weekend I will not forget . Also thank you heeps for letting me drive it after the event . It realy has started to make me rethink what I am going to do once my hilux is back on the road.
POS thanks for cocking breaky each morning it was yummy , oh and you are nothing like I thought you would be, to which I am shore you think the same back.
Last but not lest Ruff and Kate, you guys realy are tops . OK, i know i've been slack and i should have posted my VICTORY speech by now but i've been laid up in bed with food poisoning for the past two days Thanks to a certain seafood salad at a certain RSL club!
Anyway!
I will try and keep this a short as possible but i have quite a few people to thank.
1. I would like to thank Sam Overton for putting on what has been the best ever RockCrawling event. The future for WEROCK is looking very bright. The amount of work and $$$$ Sam put into the event is just mind blowing. Everthing from organising the event sponsors to setting the stages was all on Sams doing. He has made a huge sacrifice in not competeing this year and instead organising and running the event (this does work out better for me though, one less nasty driver to try and beat ) just so we have a strong and challenging event the future.
2. A Very BIG thankyou should go to ROB, STEVE and TERRY at EXCLUSIVE TYRE DISTRIBUTORS for providing me with such a Great set of MICKEY THOMPSON BAJA CLAWS. I beleive these tyres were one of the major factors in sealing a victory for my team. If a tyre like this can win the hardest ever rockcrawling event then surely they would kick but when your out wheeling with the mates on the weekend!!
3. I really need to thank DAVE (Beebee) for spotting me through some of the hardest terrain we have ever seen. But i am pissed off with him at the moment as it was his idea to go to the RSL for dinner. . Thanks Dave, you did what many can't do and thats keep my right foot under control (well for most of the time anyway )
4. Every Competitor there deserves a huge pat on the back, the display of teamwork, professionalism and full on competitive spirit made the event a true success.
5. The Spectators and yes even the YOBOs for coming along and supporting this event and the guys that compete. With out spectators the event would be plain and boring. Thank you for your time and efforts.
6. A very important thank you goes to the WEROCK officials that gave Sam a helping Hand during the weekend. Kent, Rod and Jamie thankyou for the big efforts in making the event run nice and smooth. We can only hope that for future events we have guys that are half as good as you guys were.
7. Rover Park, Hans and Hiedi. We'll there hospitality and commitment towards these events never ceases to amaze me. Once again thank you.
I honestly believe that WEROCK will become one of Australia's largest 4WD events. As Guts has said in one of his earlier post, this year is all about getting it right for the future. Yes there will be a few hiccups here and there but its all part of the learning process.
All in all i had one awesome weekend, i am now truely looking forward to the next event. I am certain that a win will be a lot harder to come by as the compitition grows!

Hi everyone.
Firstly, I cannot praise Sam and his helpers highly enough for having the guts to get out there and put on such an exciting event.
I acknowledge that it was at some conderable cost to you Sam, but I'm sure you will reap the rewards in the future as we all will as the sport of rockcrawling grows both in Australia and internationally.
The spectator base will grow with each event, as I'm sure that nobody would have left on Sunday arvo dissapointed. I know that from both a driver, spotter and spectator point of view, I was constantly entertained by the specticle.
I also owe a huge thankyou to my sponsors Air Up who also sponsor WEROCK for their dedication to promotion of rockcrawling in Australia.
I've been reading all the coments with much interest but have refrained from commenting as some of the coments are targeted at my spotting re outside assistance. There is nothing to add that hasn't already been said. At no time was their a breach of the "explained" rules although I can see how it detracts from the event as a whole. No doubt this rule as well as many other will be tightened up as the series progresses.
This progression will also lead to a hightened professionalism within the sport. There is already evidence of this and it stands to create some fierce competition in the future. I must say that this really excites me. I haven't stopped thinking about building a buggy since the weekend
Thanks to all the other competitiors, especially those travelling long distances. Comiserations also to those competitors (BJ and Dave especially) who put in the big effort to be there only to have their vehicles break early and put them out of the event. I'm sure it's very frustrating.
Lastly congratulations to Adrian for a super controlled and consistant weekend and also to Tony for another inspiring display of competive driving. Bad luck to Humphrey for breaking on the last obsticle and dropping back to fourth after an otherwise excellent weekend.

Sorry guys my reply has been delayed due to my lack of sleep over the weekend.
Well my great weekend started with a broken transfer at about 4-30pm on Friday as i was loading my rig on to a truck to head down to RP. This ment that i had to cut the belly plate of my buggy to remove the transfer. Had it out and rebuilt and back in by 1am Sat morning. Then had to drive 3.5hrs to RP. Had 1.5hrs sleep before getting up to compete
I was first cab off the rank and the fact myself and wes had only slept for an hour and a half was realy showing. I just couldnt get it together and totaly ballsed up my first run. 2nd run was much better but by the afternoon on our last run i would much rather have been asleep. I nearly killed my spotter by hitting a tree just while getting to the start line. Got off line halfway up the obstical and ended up timing out.
Back to camp and had some dinner and sat around talking crap for a while anmd watching the BOTC DVD. Was around 11pm before i hit the hay.
Sunday morning and we were back in form clearing the first stage with the lowest score and the clearing the second stage in seccond place. The third stage however we got off line and after a heap of tyre smoke i broke a CV and basicaly gave up after this.
From the run Adrian had on Sat there was no chance i could have taken the lead anyway so it was decided that 3 stages would be enough to finish the day.
This was defianatly the hardest even we have ran in and there were a few good drivers there including Tom(GQ) in Micks new Buggy who i beleive once he has his own buggy up and running and a little more seat time is going to be hard to beat. Also Adrian i cant beleive how different he drove this weekend. It was a totaly new driving style. And obviously did him a lot of good. Dont think your going to get it so easy next round though as i will have had a lot more sleep and wont be so concerned about panel damage
I would like to thank Hans and Hiedie from RP for a great venue,Sam Overton from WeRock for a great set of courses,All the officials and media for keeping out of my way while i slept on the courses, And lastly my New Sponsor 4x4Sport Australia for supplying my new BFG Krawlers and also ARB Southside in Brisbane for all there Support. These tyres realy are amazing and i couldnt recomend them more. They grip like S*!t to a blanket and realy impressed me this weekend. These tyres are miles ahead of my old TSLs in so many ways.
Oh yeah my great weekend didnt finish after the event. I also ran out of Diesel in the 8Ton truck we hired on the way home just after midnight in the rain 2klm from Haultech. Got to bed at 2-30 in the morning and was awake again at 5-15am to drop Cheezy and his Dudelux mate at the airport so they could sleep all the way home while i then went in to work for a few hours
Mark and Dave your both allways more than welcome to crash here before or after any event and Mark, me and Sam are defianatly taking you up on that drive when your buggy is finished
