HAND BRAKE PROBLEMS ANY ONE FIX THE PROB
THE HAND BRAKE WIRE WHERE IT IS CONECTED TO THE DRUM HITS THE LEAVE SPRINGS AND IT WANT LOCK UP WOULD LIKE SOME IDEA HOW TO FIX IT SO IT LOCKS UP THANX
slinky u bounce right back
Just use a very small bit of flat that has 2 ears welded to it. Bolt it to the standard brake lever via the 2 ears. the flat then goes down the side of the standard lever about 40mm which is what it levers off, the other end of the flat extends up about 50mm higher then the standard one does and has a hole in for the cable to re attach to.
If I remember tomorrow I`ll take a pic of the old setup I used on my old drum brakes as its still stitting on the shelf still attached to the drums.

The lever on the back of the drum has to travel so far before it pulls the brakes on tight, the only way to stop it hitting the top of the springs is to either adjust up the drums them selves allmost everyday or lift the end of the cable higher to clear the springs.
As soon as you either put in leaf packs that have more leaves in them or add lift blocks you get this problem happening.
You can adjust the cable between the drums and the handbrake lever as much as you like but it will not fix this problem.
