Beefing up the Transfer Case

Post by Bazooka »

Seeing what I have planned for my project the only stock part of the drivetrain looks to be the T/C. I remember reading about busted mounts, arms and even breaking the case open with too much torque. How have others fixed these problems from happening? I have seen stronger arms available. I am thinking of a bucket type mount that will hold the case and everything together and use stronger rubber (poly?) mounts. Is there anything available out there locally? Who is making these things?

Plenty of the US companies (calmini, tt, rro) sell transfer buckets that replace the mounts and give good strength. Has been mentioned on here before.

yes it did.
i now use normal mounts on the long arm with chains.
and the mount you see in the pic on the single arm.

these do have a crush tube inside them.

Yeah thats pretty cool. Doesnt look too hard to achieve.

I like the e-brake setup with what looks like a Go-kart caliper. :D

I have just inquired about one of these - http://www.rock4xfabrication.com/forrest.htm

I am cataloging all this stuff away for one day when I get another Zuk, and I will build it with all my imaginary money, in an impossibly short time frame ;)

I am making myself a similar design using a go-kart brake disc and a caliper the same as in the spidertrax kit.
