Transfer Case problems

Post by BundyRumandCoke »

Any assistance would be appreciated.
Since last year, I have had a problem with my early F75 non vacume transfer case jamming in neutral. It happens when I am in 4H. I can drive sometimes a few metres, sometimes quite a long distance, but eventually, the shift jumps and jams into neutral. Only way to fix it is to remove the entire shifter and its mount from the top of the case, push the selector rod back with a screwdriver, and reassemble. I have had the case apart about 4 times since xmas, and with reference to a F75 workshop manual, made sure the thing was correctly put back together. I first thought a weak or missing indent spring or ball but all is fine. I now suspect it may be wear on the selector rod and lever end? but nothing is really noticable. I drive now in either 2H or 4L with absolutely no problems since 2H with diff lock takes me most places anyhow.
Any ideas???

Have you tried a new selector rod to see if that was the problem ??
