Ring gears

Post by bulldogy »

Hey guys posting for a mate .
He has a Jeep J20 1981 model dana 60 rear 44 front .
He wants me to get him a set of precision gears from the US from reider racing thats who i buy all my toyota stuff from.
Anyway on there site and a few others they give diff part# eg he wants 4.1
On Reider site they state 44D/410+ extra thick for the dana 44
For the dana 60 they say 60D/410
I dont know if the dana 44 + gear is gunna fit his front diff can anyone shed some light on this for me please
They also have 4.09 and avail in both but no mention about thickness need too order asap any help very much appreciated.
Thanks Dave

there are 2 different centres avail on a d44. upto 3.73 ond over 3.92

if you have the upto 3.73 ratio centre, to change to over 3.92 you need to either change the centre, run a spacer or get extra thick gears.

what ratio was it originally?
is it high or low pinion?
these are things you will need to know for getting the part number.

That front D-44 in his J-truck should be a low pinion.
It's easy to play, but hard to learn!

Ok
Saw the truck today it has the dana 44 low pinion.
The ratios are now 3.73.
Does he have to do a carrier change in both diffs ?
Also on the reider site they do the 4.1 thick is this to use for a carrier so you dont have to change ? eg 3.73.carrier using 4.1 gears
Cheers dave
