Hopefully they dont change the winch penalty, as yesterday i got all the bits for my new winch (secret weapon). it used to be for pulling gliders into the air, and takes over 150m of wire on the drum. Dave and i will be able to hook the winch up at the start line, and drag our sorry arses thru the entire course and be as boring as bat $hit. But if that what it takes to be Oz's tuffest Truck then so be it. ;)

nah Fark it, lets just drive it!

I'm thinking that the Tuffest Truck to build is a Mini Moke with a 24V High Mount....

Seriously winching per wheelbase with BIG penalties has to be introduced...doesn't it?

Also this spare thing is ridiculous. Where is anyone gonna mount 44 to 49 inch tyres. And if you do how unstable will the truck be. Plus the weight you will need to add to correctly (safely) mount it. You should have to keep a spare REASONABLY close to the course in the unlikely event of you not being to be extracted without it. Navigator isnt even gonna get it off the truck let alone wheel it through a course...

As I have said before these trucks have pure off road tyres on them and the tyres WILL take being run dead flat over rocks without a worry in the world. Also are you going to hold the rig steady while somebody else removes the flat 44 TSL and puts the one on they have just got down off the back of the rig and moved into postion (without slipping or letting it go into the crowd below) on the side of rocky horror? I shore as hell an`t. Even if your spare is only a 33 it is still unsafe to do on the side of a hill  and when there is 5000 people standing around watching I think just driving the rig either forwards or backwards off the track and out of the way is ALOT safer and quicker. Carrying spare tyres is not suitable for these rigs or this event

Winching Penalties have now been Revised and its official.

2005 TTC is now a Driving Event!!!!

Winching is worth 25 points.
And a Back and Fill(Reverse) is worth 2 points.

BRING IT AWWWN

Also not that i cared about the spare tyre rule but you do not have to carry this while competing. It does have to be kept at the start of each course though.

With the spare tyre thing does it need to be functional? If not then run a square spare. Mount the tyre to the rim with no valve stem and then with a ratchet strap tighten the tyre down as much as possible to make it as small as possible and jam it into whhat ever spare space you havve

Yeah it does cause if you get a flat you have to change it there and then cause they mite mashall you to the next stage without time to get back to camp to change it

would you really take the time to change the tyre or try and continue and winch if needed instead
