I'm looking at swapping out my 1 litre and replacing it with one of these motors. I've read his buildup thread and seems the only problem was gearbox related? Gearbox won't be a problem with my one

the k6a is hard to get though and very expensive...
they use 1lt mounting points....not wt...
apparently the sierra (jimny) boxes are different to the cappa boxes..

Greg's is an F6A, it is cast iron block, not all alloy like the K6A.
It didn't appear to mount up like the 1.0 or the 1.3, so maybe K6A is a better choice. But I guessing F6A would be cheaper.
Greg got a front cut cappa from an importer in S.A
I think it was around 2 grand.
The gear stick didn't fit where he wanted it, but in my opinion there may be less modding needed if happy to have a modded stick or location.
It overheats a little at times, but is going great.
Greg lost access to the net with his new job.
But he does get on, on rare occassions.

The K6A sierras were built from november 95 onwards in Japan. They are almost impossible to find. My brother lives in Japan and has found a wrecker that has a few. I am trying to get this organised ASAP as I want to do the conversion too.
I should hear back from him within a month or so.
The problem is it costs money for the wreckers in japan to dispose of a car. They charge the japanese owner a fee to dispose of it. Unless its a highly desirable car ( GTR, 2JZ supra etc) they just crush 'em. So its really a case of walking through all the yards over there untill you find one, then trying to get it back here.
It would prolly cost about $1500-$2000 to get one over here.
I will post more when I have some info.

PS. if I can get a few of these front cuts, would others be willing to buy one? I would get a 20ft container and try to get about 4-8 front cuts in, but would need money upfront. ( for the purchase of the front cut, not for frieght or duty)

be aware that though they are fitted to sierras in japan, they have not been imported here, so some engineers will knock them on lack of pollution information, or wrong puter, or ...... etc.....not all tho...

F6a engine mounts locations are exactly the same as 1.0
The bellhousing pattern is close to 1.0, but not the same
The cap gearbox is not really suitable. It is mucho work to make it shift in the same spot as a sierra box, and has a 3.3:1 1st gear, whereas the sierra/jimny gearbox has a 4.0:1 1st gear (1.3 sierra 3.6:1) we have had reliability problems with the cap box pushing 34's and a 1200kg sierra, but only at speed (not off road)
ADR emissions information is not available for these motors (f6A, capuccino) as the compliance holders won't realease it. in any case, we were knocked by the engineer even if we had the cap emissions info as the sierra is heavier than the cap so its emissions cycle will be different.
That said, they well rock in a sierra as they have a very broad usable rev range and more power/torque than a 1.3, and they sound well cool, like 1/2 and angry skyline.

I would really really recommend buying the jimny front cut if you want a sierra/lj swap.
Trust me, you REALLY want the jimny/sierra gearbox. Much of the hardware that comes with the alto (fwd) front cut will be useless.
