Hey all,
Just a quick one, hoavent had much luck with specific info and SEARCH.
Ive got a 2003 IFS Hilux, V6, with a 50mm bodylift, and just fitted 33 BFG muddies. Generally speaking, ive had no problems, but on mid lock, and say turning from a road into a driveway, as the wheel goes up, the back of the tyre hits the back (closest to door) guard. At the moment its purely damaging the plastic guard cover, but I havent had it off road yet.
Is there a way of limiting ther upward travel of the IFS so it doesnt foul the guard/tyre? Perhaps winding the torsion bar to its upper limit??
MB increase upper bumpstop length?
I dont really want to get to it with a hammer or tin snips, so please dont offer that as an option. Non destructive opinions would be preferable.
Thanks.

Justin,
The ride is great with torsion bars wound up, not all the way up, but will most like have to do that on the weekend to try to stop my problem. Potholes arent the best at any time, but with the bars wound up, they are bigger than the grand canyon, bumpstops are a slight saviour!!
Tyres are 33x10.5x15 not 12.5 widths, and the 3.4 V6 has absolutely no problem turning the wheels, I actually believe the car runs better on the bigger tyres. At 100, theres still heaps of pedal to go a bit more, but my speedo is out due to the tyre dia, so at 90 indicated, its still got power to spare, and 100 indicated, its still got more coming along.
Cheers
Karl

winding the torsion bars up won't stop the rubbing at full compression. When I had my 99 lux with heavy duty torsion bars I still scrubbed at mid lock and full compression with 33x10.5. Honestly the only way to stop it was to remove the mud flaps, cut the inner guard and trim the inside of the flares. Winding up also means you end up with next to no droop. Next to none of nearly none to start with means you have bugger all.
