Swaybar removal = no change!

Post by Syzygy »

gained all of about 7mm on the down wheel.

probably had the tape measure in a different spot...

i'm not complaining that my swaybar doesn't limit anything, but am wondering why other bunderas gain from it and i dont. could it just be very worn bushes?

everything is stock.

doesn't the swaybar just hold the axles and body on the same plane? therefore, disconnecting it won't give more travel as such, rather let the axles move more independantly in relation to the body?

Disconnect the sway bar on something with a bit of lift and it makes all the difference.
Cant get what aint there in the first place.

This will most likely be the problem.

And bind in the radius arm bushes, can you get slotted bushes for 70s and 80s ?.

You should go for a drive in Beebees truck with and then without swaybars. ;)

Exactly what i was about to say. My old Pedders shocks limited my rear travel, but still got better without sway bars.
With the right size shocks, and no swatbar it now out flexes the coils nearly....

yeah i checked the shocks today, and they go close to limiting it but they aren't.

took one off and got another 10mm wheel drop, but then connected it back up with the wheel still down and it stayed at that height. It did seem to be pretty much at its limit.

maybe toyota designed everything to max out at the same time...

putting it down to bushes i think.
