has anyone done this conversion or seen it done??? we sat the engine and gearbox in today and the cross member is way to high for the sierra gearbox so it doesnt fit in.wot would be the best thing to do cut the cross member?can i cut that cross member? or lift the body it would hav to be a fair way or something else??? the sump is to close to the diff at the moment but reset springs should solve that problem i hope and is there any other problems im likely to encounter? any input appreciated
thanks
Brad

OK....I'll reply to your question !!!
GROVER - LJ80 (Melbourne)
Purchased with a Corolla 4K Conversion.
It now sports a 1.3L Sierra Engine coupled with a 5 Speed Sierra Manual Box and T-Case.
Kenn (the owner) says if you have to cut the cross member....then cut it ! He did not have to modify the tunnel too much (just a little wider in a couple of spots if I recall).
It also has a 2" body lift which helps everything fit under the body!!
Couple of things to watch out for are :
1. Gear stick location - I think there was some modification to the hole
2. Clutch plate activation
3. Steering box - Kenn's unsure as his already had the 4K conversion.
4. If you drop in a 1L, don't forget about maybe getting the 1L radiator. Unsure if it will fit....he thinks not likely, so you may need a custom radiator.
That's all he could think of at the moment, too busy concentrating on the next project for Grover !!!
1600 16V with 4 speed electronic auto, Vitara rear diff (with ARB Locker) and a modified 1.3 LJ80 front diff with Vitara centre (also running ARB Locker) !!!
Hope this helps, for more info, PM me and I'll give you his contact number in Mebourne
