Transfer (additional) parts

Post by nirbaer »

hi all
I am new here, Nir from Israel and I just diassembled my '95 transfer case due to a worn bearing.

there are 2 parts which I am not sure where they came from and maybe someone can help me here:
1. small spring, I am preatty sute it was in one of the shifter springs I just don't know which one.
2. a small yellow plastic.

attaching a diagram of the shifter springs, and a pic of the parts.
thx.

yellow plastic thing? is it about 25 to 30 mm long has an arm or two and looks like it is supposed to catch oil?

Another Q:
When closing the case, is it recommended to use a new universal gasket with red silicon or maybe use only silicon? the old gasket is worn out.
thx.

fixed it.
found out that the big cover MUST have a gasket, otherwise one of the bearing is compressed and the shaft would not rotate, the gasket gives an extra ~0.5 mm needed.
btw still don't know what is the yellow plastic...

when i rebuilt my 1.3 transfer case, i never came across any plastic bits? the springs for 4wd switch, and the shifter locating ballbearings.
