I picked up the J10 that was on ebay with the holden 253 and jeep running gear, and so far it has ran great with one exception.
the original jeep 4spd manual, has a retainer cap that goes over the ear stick and locks onto two prongs in the ring at the top of the gearbox. The original one broke on me after a few days of driving and the shifter came out of the box. no big deal i just drove home in reverse and shifted it out of reverse in the daylight. i ordered a new cap, spring and boot kit from jeeepart up north. one week later the new cap broke the same as the old one. is this a commomn problem with this gearbox? if so what the hell can i do to fix it. i have never had this problem with any of the three speeds but they are a different kettle of fish. any advice would be appreciated.
