Good: Rear diff offset the right way
Crossover steering already
Strong
Full floating in the rear.
Bad: Heavy
Big
not many available ratios
Bundera axles are better for sierra use but are harder to find. (have better available ratios though.) A later 75 sieries front end would be a good idea too as the front hilux sized diff is reverse rotation and much smaller than the 60 series diff.
If you are worried about strength with the sierra diffs and 35's, go with a smaller tyre becuase by the time you fit 35's to 60 series diffs you'll have about the same clearance as a sierra with 30's on it.
I reckon the beauty of sierras is their small, light and high clearance diffs. Once you go to larger, heavier diffs on a sierra you eliminate most of the advantage of a zook, and you just end up with an underpowered hilux/landcruiser etcetcetc.
My guess is for the cost of (properly) fitting and locking 60 series diffs you could beef you sierra diffs enough to live with 35's and bask in the clearance.
Just my 0.2 cents worth.
Steve.
Ps huntr - seen your car around st.andrews - sure is big

I disagree. The 60's are wider than bothe the lux and the Bundera.
And you won't make a sierra diff strong enough compared to a sixty to run 35's for the same cost. As much as I am very much Pro Zook stuff toy diffs are really the only cost effective way for strong diffs. I chose the 60's for the extra width strength and offset centres. You will buy a pair of sixties for tha same as a rea bundy.

arnt they out of a stout and 6.1s?

stumped wrote:i gotta agree wit tim.... for the stuff we drive up here anyway, zook diffs don't kick it compared to toys. i've seen a few different zooks, and they're hell more stable with lux diffs under them than running zook stuff...
mine on zooks with offset rims was almost as wide as tim's on lux's, but his was heaps more stable sideways... and his was taller with an exo!
for driving rocks too, ur heaps more likely to break stuff than mud, ya couldn't run much more than a 31 without breaking everytime u go out on zook diffs
