Hole in between engine and gear box? 80 series

Post by bruiser »

80 series. Petrol Manual
Just wanting to know what that big trapazoid shaped hole is where gear box and engine meet that faces forward. It should have a cover plate but mine is missing. Been missing for a while.

Just got back from Fraser and worried about sand that could have got in there.

Anyway. What's it for, and what will happen if shit gets in there?
Thanks
Steve

If I am not mistaken, that the inspection hole for clutch area and flywheel. If left open you''ll get a load of dust and other unwanted crap inside!

if its auto then it sounds like it could be the access hole to unbolt the torque converter when taking off the trans.

Petrol motor?? Thats where the timing marks are on a petrol, or a least the 2F.
I'd make a cover for it to keep any crap out tho.
Luv the sound of a diesel,
especially a Chev 6.2!
Its GONE.........Replaced by a qik HDJ105.

So that hole is of no use on a manual?

So geting shit in there is not a problem?

Can I put the hose in there and clean it out?

Cover it up, as water in there will make the clutch slip, not to mention wear out if you get sand/mud inbetween it.
u would probably pay $10 for a spare at yota

To undo an auto if you have one and to earn yota money if you dont.
