80 Series Diffs- Factory Lockers

Post by scotto »

Question about 80 series diffs with factory lockers--

If I pulled a factory locker out of an 80 series diff (front and or rear)
will the entire locker setup come out leaving a standard diff housing?

My point - are the housings the same -the engaging mechanism attached to the pumpkin itself yes..

Also, I have heard (from a knowledgable source - sorry dude just fishing for tips  ) you need to be real careful in wiring them up - does anyone think they can not be wired up with fairly straight forward switches/relays etc like elec window switch.

Anyways its not all about the diff centres

Thanks scotto

what are you planning scotto...

there is a good writeup on ih8mud for fitting these E lockers to 40 and 60 series housings (therefore i guess the center has all the locker crap associated, and the housing is the same)

Yes the locker comes out complete but the locker housing is different to a stocker and you will need to modify a stock housing but its a simple excercise involving a grinder, a bit of weld and a drill :D

inferring that the locker does come out whole... and the mods for the 40 or 60 housing are similar to the 80 housing so i've been told...

so how much lift do i need to fit 34's
