Tyres for my Cruiser
Hey Guys,
I'm new here. I've got a 93 Diesel Cruiser. I've currently got 8x16 rims and 275/70R16 Tyres.
I'm looking at upgrading to say 285/75R16's (or possibly 315/75/R16's). Would those tyres be ok on my rim?
Any suggestions or brands or places I can get a good bargain?
Thanks for any help.

Im here for the sausage!
Got a 3in lift.
Do daily driving, but very short distant (run my own business which is literally down the road). The occaisional long trip. Want to do more off road, but still a novice in that area.
Budget, well I'm open depending on the equipment.
Was looking at Bridgestone 285/75R16 at around $226 a piece. Most other places I've called quoted me at $270-$280.
Was thinking $315/75R16, but they seem difficult to find and I guess I'd be looking at over $300.

You can run 315's on your rims but you will have to remove the mudflaps/or modify.
Oh and for all you people who say you need 3, 4, 5 inch suspension, or 2 inch body lift or bla bla bla to run 35's, that is BS.
I run 315's I used to have a 6inch suspesion lift. They tore my mudflaps off. After this they were fine.
I now run no lift and 315's withought the flaps and there is no problem on full articulation.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I didn't want to go too big, but then again, I didn't want to regret not going the biggest later. It's a tough choice. The 285 would be generally a better tire for me all round, but the 315 just is well, bigger.

After a fair bit of calling around... I can get Bridgstone 285's for about $227. I can get the Goodyear Wrangler 315 for $385. I can get the BF Goodrich 315 for $369. I can get a tire called the Maxis? next month which is 315 for $280. The other 285's are all $270 and up.
I checked the trading post, but no big tires for sale.

Fj40 '84, 2F. PWS, 2" extended shackles, detroit rear, soon lockrite front. huge 31" tires :( one day some big mothers!
JT2s are a rag tyre are they not ???
You would then have to factor in the cost of replacement rims. Though I think they come in 34x10.5/16 Which should fit an 8"rim ....
