Bundy upgrade questions...again!

Post by Turby2LT »

Okay, I just thought that I might condense all my random thoughts into one cohesive list of questions. Sorry to do a mind dump, but this is like therapy for me...

1. Does Safari make a snorkel that fits the mighty Bundy? ARB aren't too clear in their catalogue. Does anyone make a snorkel for Bundy's?

2. Will 80s series coil suspension bits work on a Bundy? Eg. OME kits etc. Something to try by myself with experienced supervision as well as changing bushings in general?

3. Are 33's ok on a Bundy after a 4" suspension lift? Will ratios need adjusting? Exhaust need moving? I am only considering going from 30's to 31's, but no harm dreaming right?

4. How much more boost can one get out of the factory turbo without overstressing the engine?

5. The gearbox seems reluctant when downshifting to 2nd, and reverse can be hard to get into, anyone else experiencing similar? Transmission fluid was changed at last service 1 1/2 months ago.

6. As a novice oiler, do I need to make special provisions for the upcoming Melbourne winter?

7. Exhaust upgrade a good idea? And if so, what kind?

8. What's a swivel hub? A service on this would set me back $1200+ or so I'm told.

Once again, thanks for reading, and hopefully, indulging these ramblings.

You can use standard 80 series front springs alround to lift it.

1. Does Safari make a snorkel that fits the mighty Bundy? ARB aren't too clear in their catalogue. Does anyone make a snorkel for Bundy's? ........... a 70 series snorkel will fit but u will have to make your own plumbing.

2. Will 80s series coil suspension bits work on a Bundy? Eg. OME kits etc. Something to try by myself with experienced supervision as well as changing bushings in general? .......... stock 80 series genuine front spings will give 4" lift but OME and alike r too stiff, dont worry about bushing stick with the rubber ones

3. Are 33's ok on a Bundy after a 4" suspension lift? Will ratios need adjusting? Exhaust need moving? I am only considering going from 30's to 31's, but no harm dreaming right? ...........33 will fit with no mods and stock suspension.

5. The gearbox seems reluctant when downshifting to 2nd, and reverse can be hard to get into, anyone else experiencing similar? Transmission fluid was changed at last service 1 1/2 months ago. .... probably just a bit worn dont stress just drive it.

6. As a novice oiler, do I need to make special provisions for the upcoming Melbourne winter? ........... only coolant/antifreeze if u r going to spend extended time in the snow.

8. What's a swivel hub? A service on this would set me back $1200+ or so I'm told.......... what your front wheel bolts onto... who quoted u that much??? buy the workshop manual and have a go your self....

When using 80 seies coils front + rear does anything need to be modified, how much lift does that give, an how does it ride and handle.
