my opinion is buy cheap and get cheap..... why not buy the genuine article and just suss out a good price from guys like ryan at fourby's marooka........................ mention me
companies that rip of shit like this are clearly behind in the technology and research and therefore this goes hand in hand with the ability to construct a quality tyre................
other tyre may look the same but what about ware? wall thickness/plys rubber composition/ chipping characteristics/ road capabilities/ handling................ blah blah blah....
i have a similar issue in my job where an oposition is selling their prodct of my companies back saying it's as good as but 2/3rd the price........... following testing it was found to be incorrect and infact ours worked up to 500 % better.............
a bit off course but you get my drift.....

i think if you do your research you will find that the moulds for the ET were purchased from a pommy company nearly 10 years ago and the were previously sold in the UK as an industrial tyre over 15years ago.
I have them (by a different brand) in a pommy mag from 1992 about 8 years before we got them here.

I had heard that Chris Hummer had designed them specifically for the Malaysian Rainforest challenge.

Yeah, I remember reading that on the MRC site a few years ago.
Dont expect mere proof to sway my opinion.

PURCHASED THE MOULDS.... point 1.........

and if you soley judge a tyre on its looks in terms of technology then my friend then i would be a little concerned..........or is everything else for example time money research that goes into coop tyres say just looks....
you think they research how pretty it is and can they rip it off............
if somewone copies a cooper do you think you will get a km guarantee just because they "LOOK" the same and are $50 cheaper.............

d00d i would def have them as a play only set.. I streeted them but fark me in the wet they were dangerous... in the dry they were noisy as all fawk and they wear out and overheat to the shithole at low pressures.

Silverstone were making Bar treads & other full on offroad tyres 15 years ago before anybody with 4WD's had heard of Simex.
People raved about how well their 10R M/T's went in the mud until they saw what you could plow through in a stock landy with 7.50x16 bar treads.

who said i was judging them

Having been sponsored by Silverstone for over 5 years now I was dissapointed to see the similarities of their Xtreme but also pleased that they are making an effort to progress. The construction of the tyre is a new design and is only in it's early stages. I have advised Malaysia of a number of possible design changes to help individualise and improve on the appearance and design.
That said, the tyre works extremely well on and off road and the wider spacing between the central fingers means that it cleans alot more efficiently.
I have also had assurance from Malaysia that the design changes from the copied brand are sufficient to satisfy international laws (and I am keeping my fingers crossed).
