Guys/Gals,
Has anyone reading got an 80 series with this motor and a tape measure handy?
Just need to know the dimensions of the radiator - The total height? Width and length. The dimensions of both main section and as well as at the furtherest points - ie caps/mounts if possible as well would be great.
The engine mounts have been started last weekend but I am now in Africa (urgent work issue - don't ask ) for a couple of weeks and need to organise a radiator as want to keep the cooling original so I know I will not have any issues. The engine has been in the rolling chassis supported by blocks to do a measure up and it looks like it was made for it
Will post some pix when I buy a new camera in a few weeks if anyone is interested.
BTW, does anyone know of anyone who has done this so I can talk to them? There is a guy in cairns I think who has done it and there are a few pics at Ih8mud.com, but emailed him with no answer :(
Cheers
Shane

Id be real surprised if you get an original 80 rad to bolt in a 45...the 80 rad is wider than your front end.....
I would be looking for an fzj75 radiator for it.
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
Yeah I kinda guessed that, was wondering how much wider
BTW, do you have a 75 rad around to measure for me? or any other ideas as I have a space issue and fat stubby rads (like the orignial 45) aren't looking like fitting without major mods, was thinking a bit wider and subsequently thinner - like the original 80. Run a small thermo each each side of the water pump pulley and cut a few more vents into the front bib, anyways... Its either that or moving the engine back and cutting up the rear crossmember behind the gearbox, but either way its going to fit
Looks like I might be up for a trip to the wreckers when I get home...
Cheers
Shane
