Injection pump control motor
Injection pump control motor
Hi all,
This is my first post here.....but i have gained a lot of vauable information before hand when buying my SD33T powered MK!!!
As per the subject i have come across the problem that my MK will not turn off. So i hit the search section and found a few posts...pulling the injector pump controll motor apart i found that the brush on the motor has broken off!!!
Now apart from replacing this part i would like a few questions answered?
Does this motor really have three positions that it adjusts the cut off lever on top of the fuel pump? Being a start position, run, and shut off???
If so can i please get someone to take a picture of the position of the lever when the car is running?
Bellow are some pictures that i took
Im asking this beacuase if i where to use a choke lever to shut the car down i would like to know where the run position of the shut off lever is.
Thankyou all in advance

thanx for the advice bazzle!!
I did end up fixing the brush holder and putting a new brush in...works perfect now!!
As for the operating positions of the shut off lever I found out some interesting info...though it might come in handy for someone
SD33T has run and off positions only - lever all the way to the front of the pump for run and all the way back for off
SD33 has start, run and shut down
as to why I have no idea???
thanx again

I have a problem with this motor as well on my SD33T. The motor randomly turns off, on, off, on irregularly and it seems to get worse after some revving. From reading the other posts on this subject I pulled the motor apart to clean it - but it was perfectly clean inside and no visible damage to anything.
Does anyone have an idea what would be causing the motor to do this?

I'd disconnect the pump control motor and take it for a run to see if it still happens (you'll have to stall it to stop the motor - mines like this now ) that'll eliminate the pump controller, if its still doing it i'd hazard a guess and say its a fuel prob, maybe air is getting into the system somewhere? when was the fuel filter changed last? I'd check all that and if you cant see anything obvious i.e. diesel leaks, take it to a diesel service place.
There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots
