Track fixes.

Post by nicbeer »

Hey,

I thought it would be good to see what people have done to fix a breakage on the trail on the zooks and maybe sticky it for later.

Mine is the transfer case mount and a plastic bottle the first time and a lump of wood the next time it happened wedged into the area worked to get home.

cheers

Used the hose from the pcv valve to the airfilter, to replace a broken hose to the heater core.
Used some Selleys Knead It STEEL to repair a hole that i crunched in my fuel tank.
I used rope to hold the t-case in position when i broke a mount.
The usual amount of cable ties to hold anything and everything that had fallen off or been damaged together, lights, bumpers that sorta thing.

this wasnt in a zook... but i broke an engine mount so we just wrapped copper wire round it and reinforced it with cable ties...

... also drove around on this for like 3 months after that, and the bodgy job was still in fine working order when i replaced the mount.

wasnt on a zook but a mate snapped his drivers side engine mount on a hilux so we used a ratchet strap to hold it over to the passenger side so it was in a more suitable spot. Worked quite well

Mate tore his engine mount off his chassis rail in a 60. Bar through the front corssmemeber, and used tow rope to hold that in position. Worked tops.

fried my accelerator cable as it was acting as an earth cable, as i didnt have the one from battery to boyd properly attatched.
so i was going to hook up my throttle to the hot cold switch, but in the end decided on using the bonnet release through the window, worked well....
gotta love zooks.

i snapped a leaf spring at landcruiser park, it was infront of the rear diff so we reversed the springs and put a big bit of 4*4 in there and tied it all together with a ratchet strap and drove home on dirt roads for 2 and a half hours :)
