I'm 90 % certain you can get flat tops for the 1300.

Have you Checked all the pistons as when i blew my 1300 up i had shattered the side out of 3 pistons and the fourth was starting to crack.

Are you sure you'll still be able to run standard fuel if you beef the compression up too much?

lol - theres a sticker by the fuelcap that says min 87 octane

won't be hard to find higher octane than that...

just thinking it might even have some performance lurking if it actually had a decent compression ratio

yeah just #3 has the skirt smashed and a bit more to fall out, no signs of cracks in any of the others

can't find any info on flat-tops, or availability. might just have to order the one replacement required from suzuki then wait two weeks for them to ship it from japan

flap top pistons

Post by toysuzi »

hello suzukisam
hows it going ??

G13B engine from 8-1991 to 5-1999 use flat top piston

there available from repco for $220.00 trade
there duralite brand piston (silicone based)

going by your jimny it should be 9:5.1 comp ratio
witch should be flat top ?
send me a pic of your blown/damiged piston
bec_daryl@msn.com

you could machine your head (deck height)
and/or weld up your combuston chamber to increase static compression

after the comb-chamber has been welded machine a squish-band for increased performance & total burn of air/fuel mixture

talk to your local machine/engine shop about compression ratio choices

but i wouldnt recommend going about 10:5.1 comp
with 98-octane number/rating fuel

any higher would need
med lead or high lead avgas fuel
to help with antiknock properties

need any help send me a pm

cheers

well i found a supplier of pistons that actually seemed to know what they were talking about and they reckon the flat-tops are now obsolete

but they can get me a complete set of dish top pistons and rings for $150 which is cheaper than suzuki can get me one piston and set of rings

Just a thought:

As you probably know G13BA is also found in Holden Barinas to 2/94 and Swifts to about 96.

As the "fully sick" crowd do them up there should be plenty of 'sporty' pistons etc available. Try the 4cyl performance crowds.

Cheers
