Well great weekend as usual!!
Did some damage though.......on the second track at the jump up at the end that I didn't get up I busted an end off my steering dampener, which I removed and threw away. Once I got onto the road again, I couldn't go over 40 km/h or the car would try and shake me out........lesson learnt- take spare dampener or remove when competing!!
It also appears my converted air conditioning compressor (Sanden SD-508) crapped itself. It took ages to pump up the last tyre, I ended up using my 12V compressor. Belt wheel very noisy........I'll get it checked.
On one of the stops on the way home to check stuff, I found the the rear air locker was still on (
). I thought maybe the solenoid had crapped itself, so I cut it off at the solenoid end....no air escaped-------not good!!!! So I cut it at the diff end and it whooshed and disengaged. When I got home and checked it, it appears that when I fitted the sliders (at LCMP Friday arvo) I put one of the mount bolts on top of the chassis rail over the air line. On one of the tracks I obviously hit the slider and it clamped down on the line.
I've fitted a new dampener and its driveable again, but its getting a wheel alignment and all six wheels balanced tomorrow.
Despite the drama's, great weekend had by all my crew. Congrats to the organisers, volunteers and officials. Also congrats to the winners and to Linc as well for a great debut performance. Great to see a GQ wagon on 35's take it out, especially considering the competition from more purpose built machines. Well done guys.
I'm interested in finding out who the "poor sports" are from mud's perspective.....I have my own ideas
...my navvy (Jethro) overheard one the other teams' members rejoicing over other cars' hitting hats and getting other penalties. Come on guys.....now really, we're not playing for sheep stations!!!!
