Sprung over 60 series on Qld Rego

hi i was wondering if it is posible to get a sprungover 60 series landcruiser regestered in Qld and what needs to be done to do so

Yeha it is, but if you have an accident, insurance can void it as its deemed unroadworthy.

It's a risk you take, potentially ruining your life if they don't pay the 3rd party out either.

That's the idea, doesn't stop people from doing it but.

Queensland Transport will say no. Some people here will tell you there's ways around it. Who do you want to believe?

Modifications where leaf springs are remounted from under axle to over
axle are not regarded as an acceptable form of suspension modification
and will not be approved.

the only way to do it is to change diffs witrh a vehicle that is SPO fromfactory - hilux for example. Diff swaps can be mod plated under approved person scheme.

you can get a sprung over 60 approved pretty easy

just use coils

the requirement is that you can re-engineer the suspension, but you cannot modify it.

going from spring under to spring over is modifying the suspension.

going from leaf springs to coil springs would be classified as re-engineering the suspension.

it is increadible with the storys that diffrent people have been told i gave and said what shadow said also it is looked at better by using factory parts which are already tested rather then going custom

i know nothing abou this at all but found an article in a 4x4 monthly the other night that has a green f150 in it that it HUGE! im pretty sure it is sprung over, has massive rubber and is QLD registered, will post pics 2night when i have a chance to scan it

Also with nitrous and huge tyres, if I remember correctly.

Registration plates doesn't mean its legal.

I think you will find F150s are sprung over as standard, someone please correct me if I am wrong.

You wouldn't do it that way for this thing, you'd spend a crapload doing it, and get pulled straight away... After proving it a few times they would stop pulling you over as often.

The Shop he did security for was up the road from me... and he lived near my school...

I mentioned this vehicle to QLD transport when I was discussing spring overs with them (as the article had just come out) and their response was that they were aware of the article and were going to issue a notice to remedy on several issues associated with that vehicle (one of which was the SPOA).
Does anyone know its wherabouts/status?
QT went on to say, as Heath correctly pointed out, that unless the suspension components were sourced from a vehicle that came with SPOA as OEM there was no way that they'd approve it.
As the conversation went on they admitted to a grey area in the case of a vehicle that had a legitimate registration in another state with an approved and engineered SPOA in that state and that registration was being tranferred to QLD. In this case they said they would "most likely" approve.
It doesn't have to make sense... it's the government.
