Measurements Please???
Moderator: Micka
Measurements Please???
Can someone who has a pile of bits lying around please make a couple of measurements for me, I need:
The width of a Rover diff centre: side gear - side gear
The width of a Salisbury diff centre: side gear - side gear
The casting width of a Salisbury centre: axle tube - axle tube
The length of both the long and short inner axles (without CV) from a Range Rover or a 110.
I know the production tolerances seemed to vary quite a bit so would be happy for a few measurements of each from different people.
Would be very grateful, thanks.

Got some 4u
long 835mm
short 449
overall o.d. rvr centre ,bearing to bearing 157.5 approx
30mm each side of carrier bofore internal splines
I am measuring a standard 10 spline rvr diff and front axles circa 1974
I am not completly clear on what you need although I have a diff centre only, diff centre with housing and axles as above.
Greasy hands, happy man.

out of my mind, back soon.
Cheers Swamp.
I am trying to work out the axle lengths I need for the custom axles I am having made for me.
If you can, would you also be able do measure the depth of spline engagement at the diff and the CV end? Should be around 1" - you should be able to tell by where the wear marks start on your axles.
Anyone have a salisbury lying around?
I have attached a pic to hopefully make things clearer

Long axle spline engagement - 10spl-29 to 30.25
24spl-26 to 28.5 ,
overall spline legth with 10mm bush- 30.8mm
Short axle engagement 10spl - 30.1 to 31.1
24spl - 27.5 to 29
overall 24spline length with 10mm bush fitted 31mm
O.D of centre in housing from side cage to side cage 187mm
I can't work out how to get an accurate measurement from side gear to side gear.
Saw a unimog today that is getting built up 40" michelins superchaged diesel putting a body on it at the mo, he also had a Pinny and a Gwagon
He who dies with the best toys wins .

Cheers swamp, thanks for all the measurements.swamp wrote: I can't work out how to get an accurate measurement from side gear to side gear.
To measure side gear to side gear, can you run a tape measure or ruler through the middle of the diff centre? Probably not the easiest thing to do...

If so, I've been on a daytrip with the pinny.

Yes Gwagen
He offered the mog to me for a mere 200 thou
all i need is another umm 200thou
He knew of lecturer at the nearby uni with a pinny who I suspect to be Prof Pinz.
